Resort Refurbs - Monorail and Paradise Pier Hotel [Merged]

I have never stayed at the Paradise Pier Hotel because I have read online that there are only 3 elevators for 430 rooms compared to about 4 elevators to 330 rooms for the Dreams Tower - and as a result there are often long waits for an elevator at Paradise Pier Hotel.

I know the DLH is getting updated, but what about PPH? Will it get another elevator? Or I thought I read somewhere that Disney may make it a DVC site?

Also, does anyone think if Disney will expand the monorail track to go into DCA or closer to the hotels or to any other area? Other than some neat views the monorail doesn't seem to be real transportation system compared to the one in Florida.

Finally, is Disney adding any hotels at the Garden Walk?

The PPH actually has four elevators.

There are currently no plans to expand the Monorail system.

Disney is adding two hotels to the Garden Walk.

To make the Disneyland Monorail into a real transportation system will need to Replace All the tracks.
There is one and two places the monorail need room to go taller.
Also power system need to be Redone.

I think may take two year rebuild and new track & new monorails train and closer of a lot Attraction in Tomorrowland.

This seems like a good time for the Mouse to invest in ownership of a new Downtown Disney type area.

If the gardenwalk had already built the hotels i think the plaza would have been in better financial condition. The plaza was designed with three plots for hotels it was also designed to have timeshares built above the parking structure. Imagine all the guests staying in those hotels being walking distance to several eateries and night time entertainment. right now the plaza seems out of the way for most guests staying in any of the major hotels.

If the infromation in the article is still valid the hotels are scheduled to start construction this year.

I do agree with the idea of Disney considering buying the place or maybe beocming partners with the option of pourchase in the future. It would make the perfect east side DTD that would eventually connect the third gate. That and the possibility of the three hotel plots could make for a great pedestrain walkway connecting the whole resort.

With the proposed Pumbaa parking structure being across the street from AGW I see a future DTD east.

As in AGW being bought by Disney? It wouldn't be the same!

    Passholder Discounts & PPH

    1. What is the passholder discount for rooms at the Disney properties?

    2. I have read horror stories about the elevators at Paradise Pier on tripadvisor- is it really that bad?

    Re: Passholder Discounts & PPH

The passholder page on the Disneyland web site gives the PPH starting rate $139 a night. It goes up from there.
I don't think the elevator issue is really an issue, but I don't mind getting on an elevator going the opposite direction I want to go, just to get on one. If everyone is going down and checking out, get on one going up and keep riding until you get to where you want to be. Its not that hard.

We always have stayed at PP, and never had an issue with the elevators, the only issue we had was my kids wanted to go up the glass elevator 20x before settling in for the night! We've only had to wait what I would consider a normal or expected wait time for an elevator, 2-3 minutes at most. That was even at Christmas time.
    Yaye!
