Wait, there's a world outside southern California?

Re: Soarin' Over The World In 2013

Having two Soarin's in one park doesn't make much sense.
And alternating the videos wouldn't work because I'm sure the programming for the movement of the vehicle would be completely different.
On the one hand I'd say Soarin' Over the World would be an awesome addition to the park that might be cooler than Soarin' Over California.
However, I do NOT want to lose SOC. It's like a musical montage (great music too) of my home state. I love recognizing all the places we're flying over, and I especially love the Awesome trip to San Diego.
No SOC means no San Diego in the video... and we can't have that.

Now what they should REALLY do is a Soarin' Over San Diego.

The programming wouldn't be a problem since it's a computer telling it how to move, so when the movie switches, it just switches programs. That said, while I'd love to see a soarin over the world ride, it wouldn't match the theme. This reminds me of circle vision in Tomorrowland. They were able to change movies with little trouble since the experience was the theme, not the locales you were seeing.

Well I hope they do both, seems like they could have Soarin over CA during Christmas and then have Soarin over the World the rest of the year.

Seriously, I'm sorry, but I don't understand the logic in naming a park California Adventure, filling it mostly with California elements, overhauling it with a mishmash of unrelated California and non-California elements, and eliminating the attraction that showed the most promise with the California theme. (Particularly if the "California Adventure" moniker remains...but then again, what name would succinctly encapsulate the core of what DCA will be in 2012?)

I'm not a huge fan of the current "California" film. The gimmick of the ride is getting old. They need to tell a story and try to hide the machinery above the seats when you board. Some sort of flyaway ceiling and barn doors in front of the screen would give a much better sense of actually taking flight.
Actually one of the original ideas that got canned due to cost.

I'm ready for a new ride experience. I must admit, the idea of different smells around the world has me intrigued and concerned!

It all could come down to something as simple as "well its a cost issue if we have to supply scents for both the old and new versions of soarin, so we'll just completely swap out the old with the new instead". And really, would any of us be surprised if that happened?

My suggestion is much more involved. They should build a third theater off the back of the building toward DTD (theres room), and then have one for one of the films, and two for the other film.

I say change it. I love Soarin' over Cali, but I wouldn't mind seeing it upgraded/change as long as they keep Disneyland at the very end. If they put WDW at the end. Boyyyy am I going to be disappointed. Or maybe each park can have their respected Magic Kingdom at the end.

The wait times would certainly help to justify such a change but I think that if Disney decided to break ground on a new show building it would be there to support the existing theatres and thus would also show the newer version.

If Disney does nothing to add more theatres then realistically you're looking at 2-3 hr wait times given the fact that by then DCA park attendance will have tripled due to the revitalized interest in the park.
