Soarin' Over The World In 2013

    Source: Disney and More

We should be hearing in 2011 official information from Disney regarding a Soaring' Over The World film upgrade being added to DCA's current Soarin' attraction. The new ride experience should open in 2013, when we will each be able to set a new couse for adventure that spans the globe. While all of this is extremely exciting, I'm left to wonder whether Soarin' Over California will be replaced, or whether both immersive film experiences will be offered. If both are to co-exist, would a second theater be built?

Currently, the Soarin' Over (and around) The World film footage is being shot from a helecopter in different countries across the globe as Disney is able to gain each respective government's authorization. Get ready to soar over nations such as France, Italy, England, China, Japan, India... and the Good ol' U.S.A. Disney figures an American landmark that the entire world would be thrilled to experience while "in flight" is our awesome natural phenomina, the Grand Canyon.

Regarding each country, it will be interesting to find out which natural wonders and other landmarks will become a part of the experience. The ride would be even better if some of the lacales are when the sun is up while others occur at night. The length of the film is also something to contemplate. One would think that the new Soarin' will be longer than the current. As for musical accompianment, I think it's safe to assume that a different musical score will be written for SOTW. Sure hope that Jerry Goldsmith will be asked to score a new composition... considering how amazing and delightful his original is.

Well, there it is. After Cars Land opens in 2012, this new Soarin' should be right on it's heals in 2013! Seems this is evidence that we will always have something significant to look forward to at the Disneyland resort from now into the future.

I'd say, let DCA keep soarin' over California (maby update it, but keep the music and California theme) And lett Epcot get Soarin' over the World.

What I think would be neat is to extend the ride length, start off with soarin over california and after the Disneyland fireworks theme have the glider loop around and go over the Grand Canyon and head off for a world tour of great landmarks maybe?

He may be asked but he probably won't be answering. He died in 2004

Sorin' already has two theaters. They could easily show a different film in each theater if they wished to do so.

I'm not a huge fan of the current "California" film. The gimmick of the ride is getting old. They need to tell a story and try to hide the machinery above the seats when you board. Some sort of flyaway ceiling and barn doors in front of the screen would give a much better sense of actually taking flight.

I agree. And make it random too. Both theaters can both show Soarin over CA and Soarin over the world. It would encourage repeat visits.

    Forget the World!?

Without the world, we wouldn't be here

Without the people, there wouldn't be England

Without England, we wouldn't have the US

Think about it! Could be a nice tribute to the world we live in.

I'll wait to start picketing until Disney makes an official announcement.

Seriously, I'm sorry, but I don't understand the logic in naming a park California Adventure, filling it mostly with California elements, overhauling it with a mishmash of unrelated California and non-California elements, and eliminating the attraction that showed the most promise with the California theme. (Particularly if the "California Adventure" moniker remains...but then again, what name would succinctly encapsulate the core of what DCA will be in 2012?)

I agree, put Soarin over the World at Epcot where it fits theamatically and keep Soarin over CA in DCA where it belongs. We need to keep anything that still ties into the CA theme in DCA. Plus it would give me an excuse to visit WDW again to see the new ride. First there are rumors that they are removing the animation lobby and now Soarin over CA? Why would they remove or change two of the best things DCA had when it opened? Sigh....

    FIRST HKDL TRIP - 2016?

    FIRST TDLR TRIP - 2017?

    FIRST SHDL TRIP - 2019?

INTERNATIONAL DEPARTURES on the right, CALIFORNIA DEPARTURES on the left.

Pretty simple. But the queues will be longer for a while until the newness wears off of the INTL film.
