We should be hearing in 2011 official information from Disney regarding a Soaring' Over The World film upgrade being added to DCA's current Soarin' attraction. The new ride experience should open in 2013, when we will each be able to set a new couse for adventure that spans the globe. While all of this is extremely exciting, I'm left to wonder whether Soarin' Over California will be replaced, or whether both immersive film experiences will be offered. If both are to co-exist, would a second theater be built?
Currently, the Soarin' Over (and around) The World film footage is being shot from a helecopter in different countries across the globe as Disney is able to gain each respective government's authorization. Get ready to soar over nations such as France, Italy, England, China, Japan, India... and the Good ol' U.S.A. Disney figures an American landmark that the entire world would be thrilled to experience while "in flight" is our awesome natural phenomina, the Grand Canyon.
Regarding each country, it will be interesting to find out which natural wonders and other landmarks will become a part of the experience. The ride would be even better if some of the lacales are when the sun is up while others occur at night. The length of the film is also something to contemplate. One would think that the new Soarin' will be longer than the current. As for musical accompianment, I think it's safe to assume that a different musical score will be written for SOTW. Sure hope that Jerry Goldsmith will be asked to score a new composition... considering how amazing and delightful his original is.
Well, there it is. After Cars Land opens in 2012, this new Soarin' should be right on it's heals in 2013! Seems this is evidence that we will always have something significant to look forward to at the Disneyland resort from now into the future.
