    Re: My Disneyland Engagement Story

That's AWESOME!! Congratulations to you both! Glad Disney did so MANY perks and special things for you and as "comps". Being the occasion and how FAR you came from I see why they really went out of their way for you guys, that's nice. Like you said it never hurts to ask and if anything they still would've been willing to do all those things for you but attach a bigger price tag then just they hotel & park-hopper bill.

    Re: My Disneyland Engagement Story

This is probably the best trip report I've read to date!

As a fellow Aussie, I agree with all your comments about how we have nothing even close to Disney down here! It's such a shame..
You guys must be Queenslanders, I'm assuming, as you mentioned you work at Movieworld. You really went above and beyond for this! It's so sweet!

Congratulations to the both of you

Great trip report! This is proof of why Disney should not be considered a "theme park" or "amusement park" because they can not even come close. It looks like you both had a great time!

This is a great point. And one of the first times I've actually heard it put this way.

I have always stood up for the difference between "themepark" and "amusement" park -- the difference between Movieworld and Dreamworld in Australia.

I may have misguidedly been considering Disney to be an themepark, without considering that the quality there might just push it past that and into a category of its own.

Yeah, I agree there is a difference between amusement parks and theme parks. But I think Disney can't really be considered any of those, I consider their parks Disney Lands, Disney Kingdoms, or Disney Worlds, because when you step into them, it's like leaving the outside world.

Spot on! This should be/is the goal of all "parks".
Unfortunately not all of them know how to achieve it. Disney does.

Nice work with the engagement ring. It's extremely pretty.

Also totally agreed with what everyone is saying, regarding Disney parks. There is no other theme park out there that makes me feel the same way (specifically Disneyland). Sure, I have fun riding rides and such in other parks, but in Disneyland I honestly check reality at the door. I can be a kid again (with manners of course ) and not care about petty problems.

All that stuff Disney did for you I'm sure didn't come cheap.
