the backstage area has alot of food choices.. under $10.. the are small tastings--but some are big enough to call a meal. and then at the various places to eat in the park(tastepilots etc) they have certain items that are geared toward the whole festival theme.

I thought everything at the Festival Showplace area was OK to great. The cheese soup and beer battered halibut were my favorite. With the exception of the alcohol, all items were $5 or less.

As I have mentioned, I have been disappointed with the two festival inspired items I have tried so far. The festival inspired items are the ones added to the menu of the restaurants during the festival. I had the chicken salad at the wharf which either left out or had such small amounts of the ingredients that were supposed to be in it that I didn't realize it was supposed to have them until I went back and read the description. It was also supposed to have a cumin mayonnaise, but I could barely detect any taste of cumin. I also had the spring roll at the Lucky Fortune Cookery and that was a complete disaster. They used a very plain sauce and it was soggy. It was also a very small portion.

I have heard good things about the pork sandwich at Taste Pilot's so I might give that a try before the festival ends.

Had the cheese soup and drink mix
wonderful soup and the cola machines are amazing
    ( had a mix of 3 lemonades..tasted tropical)
No lines at all( seminar was in session ) and it seems most people are near the scattered Wine and beer tasting areas and the Photopass Festival area( photo Op )

Last night we tried the halibut (YUMMY), the ahi (YUMMY), a chocolate cream puff (OK), and Festival Ale and a chardonay. The food was a good deal, but the drink sizes were TINY! I got like 1/4 a cup of wine for $4.50. We also tried the habanero lime margarita and it was soooo good.

    I miss the soda machine
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

i've been having a blast with the food and wine fest. this year was the first one i've been too, and i think it's done really well. the wine and beer "walks" have been fun. and the festival showplace is great on a hot day.

the only draw back i experienced was the first week when i went to the festival i thought that the area near monsters inc ride that WAS the festival showplace, and i couldn't find the special tasting foods..and what sucks is that i finally found stage 12 like a couple weeks ago(almost a month late). to me they didn't have it well marked, and im bummed that now the festival will be over soon and i havn't had a chance YET to try the giradelli choclate thing that everyone keeps talking about.

and yes the wine walks...havn't done that yet !! this year soo much was spaced out it;s just been hard to do everything! but my friend tiauna said that the california wine walk is better then the italian wine walk. its great that all the wine and beer walks are in distance of each other.. last year they were REALLY spaced out....they had the beer walk in the warf, one wine walk out near the winery and the other near tortilla factory...

but overall, i think that this year is better then last year, and i think believe that next year will be better then this year..

We were at Stage 12 for that wine tasting. Next time I will just get a regular glass of wine at the cove bar, it's a better deal. Or do a wine walk. We're going to try and go again before the festival is over.
    Well Gawrsh!
