BTW, in the most literal sense of the word "modern" the original attraction posters (And the design of Disneyland itself) are the epitome of mid-20th century modernism. I think they're smart to stick with this aesthetic, even on posters for new attractions.
It is not photoshopped photography at all. It is a painting by Greg Pro (my avatar). Look for it in the Disney Gallery next time you visit. I understand if you think it's too modern and the style doesn't match, but the image on the poster was completely painted, on canvas. The only thing probably photoshopped in the poster is the title.

Even if it's painted on canvas, it looks like it uses photographs as a reference point, and is painted in an extremely photorealistic style. I'll check it out at the Gallery the next time I'm there, but I don't think it will change how I feel about it.

That's fine. So how do you feel about this one?

Just curious. It's also very photorealistic.

Not sure if this is news or not, but it looks like the Mark Twain might make today's deadline. Costumed cms are on board, the wheel is going, the sound track is going, and Disney brass are on board with what looks like a final inspection. A few moments ago, the whistle blew, the bell rang and it seemed that it could pull out of fowlers harbor at any moment. Engineers are still tweaking the engine, and there's at least one painter aboard touching things up. I'm betting that it will start taking passengers this afternoon.

^What a great photo that would make(ie: backing out of Fowlers, followed by one as it heads down river). Looking forward to your next photo post!

Unfortunately, I had to leave this morning before the Mark Twain backed out....IF it's going to back out.

I took a few while I was there, though. As you can see, the steam has started up again, and it really looks like it's all systems go. I guess we'll have to wait to see if they still need to tweak a few more items before sending it around the island.

Edit: Apparently, they cranked up the Mark Twain just after I left, as noted in this new thread...

    The Mark Twain is running!

I prefer the non-holiday version, but to me that looks a lot more stylized and less photo-realistic than the Space Mountain poster.

You're certainly entitled to like the Space Mountain poster, I just don't don't think the style matches up with the 55 year lineage of attraction posters created for the park.

They removed the buoy from FNSV, so it's just a blank lagoon, I wonder what happened.

The past few weeks the seagulls haven't been moving, so it's probably out for repair.

This is completely off topic, but this is one of those "OMG, I took this?" pictures and I thought I'd show it off here.
