I have never been on Star Tours so this July it will be all new to me and my kids. They talk about going on it some day. They still don't know we are going to Disneyland this summer!

Forgive me.... when is the 55th birthday?

We have a 3 day park hopper and we will be down there July 28th to Aug 3rd. we will definitely be at DL on the 29th but the other two days could be on any of the other days. My 3 year old started to save money in his piggy bank so he can take us to DL in a couple of years. He is so sweet. I don't know when I will tell him that we actually have tickets and a hotel already!!!!

DL's 55th is July 17, 2010, for most people. Disney Purists will celebrate on July 18.

The Frontierland bridge aside, I don't know if these are mistakes at all. One of the problems Disney faces having to only work at night is the fact that there will be visable projects that arent done. Slowly, this project worked to completion and got there looking mighty fine. For my comment, I was refering to DCA where every little change is debated and debated event though most of the renovation hasn't even started yet, let alone finished.

You're right that they aren't mistakes. But the working conditions are NOT the reason for the workmanship being done. They had the same issue when they redid the Rivers of America several years ago. Those doing the concrete work just built nice concrete curbs around the edge and they had to be ripped out and redone.

SOMEONE is just not art directing the work being done as they should. If they can go back and do it PROPERLY the second time, why weren’t they able to do it right the FIRST time?

The other side of that tunnel is the river I believe. But I don't remember being able to even clearly see that side of the tunnel before. I am thinking the old train track that you can see from the river with the train cars lead back to that tunnel. I'll have to pay more attention next time when the river is back open. But if anything I bet they are just doing general refurb on that side of the tunnel. Fixing it up and painting. Probably had not been done in many years.

I believe that's the tunnel across from BTM that is usually all boarded up. I wonder why they opened it up if they have construction on the other side?

Usually the sign is in the position it is in in Mint's picture. But what some people don't realize is that the Small World sign hides an entire tower of parade lights. When it is almost time for the parade, a cast member uses a rod to swing the sign like a door so that the lights are revealed and can be used for the parade. That is what you see in darkbeer's picture.

That tunnel is still boarded up and right next to the pathway across from the Big Thunder exit. The tunnel in Mint's photos is the one that is behind the pond where the fish used to jump. It is the tunnel that still had some train tracks with a mine car on it coming out of the tunnel until a storm blew a tree down and landed on it. They repaired the tunnel years ago but did not bring back the tracks.. Anyway, it's on the opposite end of that tunnel where there is scaffolding.
