Disneyland is for profit.... End of story....

So I keep hearing this over and over, any time there is a discussion on the cuts that Disney makes... SO really, can Disney do anything they want in the name of profit, and that is okay, because that is all they are in the end, a company for profit? AND is that ultimately what Walt built Disneyland for? Only for profit, or is it MORE than that? Because it really bothers me when I hear this over and over again.. Because I bet for Walt, it WAS more than JUST profit...

If it was all about profit to Walt, then he wouldn't have gone through the extreme risks that were in Disneyland.

You aren't the only one who is bothered by this.

Walt built Disneyland to make a profit by selling a UNIQUE and QUALITY experience.

Current management wants to make RECORD BREAKING profits by selling inexpensive nostalgia for wallet-busting amounts.

Eventually, people will catch on (many already are).

    I think it's all connected.

Sure, it's all about profit at the end of the day.

How has Disney traditionally made such high profits, though? By charging a premium price for a premium product. If the product starts becoming less premium and the price stays the same or rises, then ultimately the reason it was so successful in the first place becomes diluted and they'll end up losing out in the long run for the sake of short-term gain.

Walt's Disney Company and Iger's Disney Company have nothing in common but the copyrights on the characters.

Walt's Disney Company saw Disneyland's individual parts as players that each contributed to its overall show, and marketed Disneyland as its own brand.

Iger's Disney Company sees Disneyland as a mall-like collection of individual profit centers, and uses Disneyland purely as a marketing channel for the brands of its other divisions.

Walt's Disney Company sold merchandise at Disneyland that was available nowhere else in the world, and prided itself on offering unique Disneyland souvenirs at affordable prices.

Iger's Disney Company sells the same generic merchandise you can get for cheaper at WalMart, and charges you $3 to have your name stitched on your Mouse Ears.

    End of story.

Walt Disney's company didn't have APers, yet we all continue to buy passes. Well not me after March 1.

any time i am at the resort I always have a good time. granted some of the prices are high, but the quality is shown.

plus..... is it just me or is there a lot of negativity in this thread?

if there is a problem with the way the company is being run, shouldnt letters be written to the company describing said problems? in addition, if there are shareholders looking at this thread, shouldnt said shareholders withdraw their votes for the employees making decisions that are not satisfactory or unpleasant???

Re: Disneyland is for profit.... End of story....

Six Flags works for only profit. Cedar Fair runs for only profit. 90% of amusement parks out there work for only profit. In the end, all that matters is whether the graph is black, or red.

Not Disney (both Walt, Iger, even Eisner). Disney understands that it's okay to go into the red once in a while, if it means a stronger public perception. The 50th Anniversary touch-ups (new Space Mountain, refurbed JC, refurbed Dumbo, etc. etc.) weren't done for profit. They were done to enhance the experience, and that's (IMO) what Disney's about.

Hummm... There are a couple of question marks in the opening statement... So I think that qualifies it as a question thread.. And there are interesting answers to the questions...

Oh Disneyfan...you have been around for over 4 years...you should know the rules. You don't write Disney to complain. You immediately come to this site, post about it, whine about it, tell how you could do it better, then move to the next thread and do it all over.
