    Red Face Fred Gurley Dimensions?

    Hello,
I could use a little help. I'm making a 3D Model of the Fred Gurley at DL, and in desperate need of the exact dimensions. I currently have these measurements: driving wheel diameter, cylinder size, and the piston stroke.

If there is anyone here besides me that likes trains and can help me with my problem, I would be very appreciative for your help.
It would be great if someone who can get access to the engine to measure it, or look at the blueprints and give me the given measurements.

    Thank you very much!
    -Nathan

Hey another fellow Disney train modeler!

I strongly suggest you get Steve DeGaetano's http://www.amazon.com/Welcome-Aboard-Disneyland-Railroad-DeGaetano/dp/0975858408 which has drawings and specs on Gurley as well as the other locomotives. (If you don't have it)

Also, be sure to stop by the Disney Railroads Discussion Board, where all things Disney trains and models of them go on.

EDIT: I see Steve fulfilled your questions, still, check out the links.

    Re: Fred Gurley Dimensions?

    Boiler Diameter at smokebox: 32"
    Driver diameter: 30"
    Driver wheelbase: 4'
    Cylinder diameter/stroke: 9" x 14" (the diameter won't help much--that's an internal dimension).

I also have the cab blueprint, which includes every single dimension. Let me know if you want some of the basic ones and I'll try to dig it out. A lot of the other blueprints I have don't show dimensions, but I'll check.

Pilot wheel is 19" diameter at the tread.

    Good luck with the project!

    Re: Fred Gurley Dimensions?

Here are the tender dimensions: 72" wide, 42 " tall to the collar. Add another 5.25" for the collar height. Length is 58.5" Water hatch is 17.25" in diameter; fuel hatch is 14.75".

So as not to bother the rest of the folks here with boring figures, PM me with the dimensions you want and I'll see what I can dig up. I don't have anything overall; you'll just have to figure that out by adding up the smaller dimensions.

Thank you very much Nautilus, and Steve.
I can't thank you enough for those dimensions you gave me Steve. I will most likely be needing more eventually.

Natilus: Thanks for that forum link. I joined just now.

One thing I forgot to mention in my last post is that this model will be runable in Auran's Trainz 2006 Simulator. I will also be creating the rest of the fleet, and what they use to be before they were purchased and refurbished by Disney's Imagineers.

    Thank very much again Steve!
