    Crowds the Week of EO

My Husband and I were going to spend a day at the park next week with our 20 month old in the hopes of having a chill day with small-ish crowds. Provided we don't go on the 23rd, should we expect crazy EO loving crowds? My Husband gets some anxiety in big crowds (al la xmas time at DL) and so we try to avoid going on really crowded days. Should we reschedule? We were thinking of going Wednesday or Thursday.

The "crazy EO loving crowds" are mostly going to be APers, who will come to the park, wait two hours to see the show, then probably leave. The MJ fans and EO lovers who are not Disney park geeks won't make it until word spreads throughout the following months, so you have nothing to worry about EO inciting huge crowds/long lines when you want to be heading down there...

I would have to mostly agree.
Then again there's always leakage. It just takes on MCer to tell a friend that is a MJ fan who then post that on a MJ site (and I doubt there isn't one).

i would think it will be crowed... EVERYONE knows that Eo is coming back its even on Disneylands website now... its on every blog and news site...
it was even on TV like E! News

you type in Michael Jackson RETURNS to disneyland 2010 on google... you get over 700million sites lol...

so im sure all the close by hardcore fans will be there opening day i know my brother is one that will be...

so sometime this weekend his website will post the press info that Tue is opening day... aswell as Disney doing press for it with news papers and TV News to help give promo... cos we all know they are only doing this for $$$ cashing in on the MJ hype...

I was in the park yesterday the 19th and I had lunch at Pizza Port and I sat outside. Well I noticed a few things for one they already had an extended queue set up next to the theater. I heard them playing the movie inside still trying to tweak it to get it right and one of the monitors that are in the queue was working and it displayed the Captain EO logo then it said Tribute on the bottom right hand side. So I think it is going to bring a lot of people in this next week especially AP's and locals.

Re: Crowds the Week of EO

I think it will be crowded but in the sense of everyone going to see EO. I predict the rest of the park will be quiet. I think mostly APers will just go and see it then leave. MJ fans will probably go more during late spring and summer when the weather is nicer and more things are open to make a full day of it.

I plan on going next Saturday and going as early as possible too see EO then spent the rest of the day enjoying the parks before EO gets too crazy. I think a lot of Disney and MJ fans will probably watch it a few times. Hoping for a 10 minute wait on all E-tickets that day, lol.

Only wished EO opened today really needed a DLR fix, but would be burned out if I went today and next week.

Posted on the Disney Parks Blog site:

On Tuesday, February 23, as a tribute to the magic, music and messages of “Captain EO,” the 3-D musical adventure is returning to the Tomorrowland theater in which it debuted. While it’s not possible to replicate some special effects elements from the original presentation, it will boast a new 70mm print of the film, and it will sound better than ever thanks to acoustic enhancements made to the theater since the film last played there in 1997.

Anybody know what special effects were so technologically advanced in 1997 that they can't be replicated in 2010? I will be calling in sick to work so I can be in line Tuesday morning!

well look at what happend when the subs returned..remember how long the line was?, of course it was no where near the capacity of the magic eye,but several hundred at 17 min each. im guessing if anything tomrowland will be pretty darn crowded for at least the first couple of days

I'm wondering about the special effects also. I saw this show many times but I just don't remember the special effects. I'm happy with a new print and sound.

The same day i'm watchng EO for the first time is the day that I renew my AP.

Two celebrations for me for that day are:

    1. First time watching EO

    2. 5 years as an PAP

Read that more as effects that were too cost-prohibitive to bring back. What you find missing is what they couldn't afford.

Also, remember that Captain EO opened at Disneyland in 1986 and closed in 1997.
