Re: What will become of the Actors from Aladdin?

off topic: but i agree. i've enjoyed Pixar releases more than any of Disney's sad attempts.. hmm except for Bolt.. i liked Bolt.

as far as the show, i dont know how well Toy Story will pull through.. just because there's no music in the actual movie doesn't mean it wouldn't fair well as a musical (Wicked, Spamalot, and Legally Blonde all did GREAT). but.. at the same time, the limited budget and dare i say, cheesiness factor might be put into play of ruining the experience for many. we shall see.

but as far as general pixar in the park, i welcome it.

You shouldn't hate Pixar just because of the fact that it's Pixar. You should hate the fact that Disney is putting Pixar in every nook in cranny of the parks. I would stand behind a Pixar addition that works. (Wall-E in Tomorrowland). It's just annoying when Disney think's that Pixar is the answer to all the problems.

    how can you compare this:

they are putting a theme park show in a legitimate theatre! The shows that have been in the Hyperion and even the Fantasyland theatre have been WAY more conceptual than TS. Disney entertainment has never dumbed it down, and now they are.

If they wanted to put a Pixar show in there, then they should have put in the Nemo show from Walt Disney World. If they had done that, I wouldn't be as upset as I am about losing Aladdin. And I'm sure a lot of the current Aladdin cast could have been cast in Nemo. Just my two cents worth.

thanks, i love getting words put in my mouth.

i wasn't saying that Toy Story would be comparable to a major Broadway production. nor was i saying it would even be good in itself.

i just made the simple connection that taking a non-musical movie and turning it into a musical wasn't so far-fetched.

I will say that even if Wall-E was put into Tomorrowland, I still would not be happy. The parks are simply in Pixar overload. Get some guts and use some proven classics or come up with your own ideas. Not everything needs to be Pixar.

Maybe they'll auction them off on Ebay (like they did with the original sign, and the Nemo Submarines)

I'm going to keep my fingers crossed they extend it for a week or two.
I hope that its so popular that they extend it longer for you. Fingers crossed

Oh man.. I hope they stay in some Disneyland way. Didn't one of the Aladdins play Naveen in the showboat jubilee? I'd just love to meet all of them somehow..

I know two of them did. Although my favorite Naveen wasn't an Aladdin...
    I lurk.

I'll also miss the lady in the wheelchair (part of the ensemble). She has an amazing voice!
I didn't know he played King of Cartoons! I saw Pee Wee's show twice. Had no idea Jafar is African American.

Drat. I've never seen Aladdin! I was hoping to see it before all of Disney and DCA changed. I still haven't even been on Pirates since it's changed! Uuugh, my 5+ years away from Disneyland is KILLING MEE!

yeah, I haven't been there since the 50th anniversary, we were there in July but not on the sctual day, however I feel the pain of missing so many new and exciing adventures waiting around every corner at this point: PotC, FNSV, SBCW, MIMSTTR, FFF, PFF, PH, TSMM, MFW, and soon to be there SSS, WoC, TLM, RSR, Cars Land, BVS, RCT, CCT, and anything else I'm missing
    Trips coming up:

    May 22-26th
    July 13th-18th
    November 19th-25th

    Hmmmmmm...

    - Both shows have a few leads performers with the choirs and music as canned audio.

    - The Aladdin show has more human characters and some cool effects, but Toy Story (based on videos I have seen) has elaborate puppets and costumes that look right out of the movie.

How is one is more legitimate for a theme park (legitimate)theater then the other?

Aladdin has a few more mic performers, but that does not mean it's better, but the script, score, and lyrics will make or break the show I think. So far most of the reviews I have heard about the Toy Story musical are not very good in that respect.

The stage at the Hyperion looks bigger then the cruse lines and so the sets might be a bit more grand. I am wondering how they might rework parts of the show. I would think they might add more audience participation to add some pizazz.

I wonder if some folks are upset partially since Toy Story is very modern and not "once upon a time?"

I will look forward to hear thoughts on the show when it opens at DCA.
