Smile What Would Folks Want the Proposed Arcade to be Like?

First, some pictures of the Arcades at Disneyland Paris that I found on different web sites:

And here is a link to a video of the Liberty Arcade:

Here is a link with info on the Liberty Arcade:
Liberty Arcade - Main Street USA - Disneyland Park, Paris | DLRP Magic!

And here is a link with info on the Discovery Arcade:

Discovery Arcade - Main Street USA - Disneyland Park, Paris | DLRP Magic!

    Question:
What would micechatters want the theme of the the proposed arcade to be in Disneyland?

Would there be room for more shops and restaurants - and if so what kind of themes would folks want?

Also, could this be an opportunity to bring back unique shops to the Main Street area instead of just having more of the same merchandise that is all of over the park?

    I don't want an arcade, I want a street!

Well, Paris' Main Street has a different feel than that of Disneyland's. DLP's is more urban and ornate, with more wrought iron and machine-crafted looking ornamentation... whereas Disneyland's is more of the small-scale, folksy, heart of America kind of Main Street. So with that in mind, the themes of the arcades between the two resorts would probably have to be pretty different. Perhaps if Disneyland's were themed to a sort of back alley, or maybe a courtyard garden, as a sort of peaceful alternative to the bustling Main Street. Just a thought.

I hope they use Paris as the model. It works so well there and doesn't detract in any way.

Not only does it provide an escape route down Main Street during parades, fireworks, and rain, it also helps connect the shops and could help prevent the push to turn the Main Street Cinema into another store.

Though I've never been to DLP, Judging by the pictures this is exactly what I would like to see.

I feel like Disneyland (california) would be better with a street on the east side that runs parallel to Main Street. It could have back doors into the existing shops as well as new shops/dining/ or even an attraction of some sort on the new east most side.

Then Center Street can be extended to intersect this new street. The new street could end where the current first aid building is (near the red wagon). First aid and the lockers could be re-situated.

Naturally, this street, although still in Main Street, USA, would be called Second Street.

I was thinking pin ball machines.

On topic: As long as it is nicely themed and not crowded, it sounds like a good idea. That Disney Paris arcade is awfully pretty.

An arcade doesn't belong in the turn of the century. We already have an arcade in Tomorrowland. That one is enough for me, thank you very much!

Guess the penny arcade is shot then....

1 : a long arched building or gallery
2 : an arched covered passageway or avenue (as between shops)
3 : a series of arches with their columns or piers
4 : an amusement center having coin-operated games

I would hope that the arcade would be like the penny arcade
not the less than desirable one that is now in TL (and that needs to be ripped out).

But I'm good w/ a well themed street.

ok, before this keeps going on, let's clear this up... the arcade in question is not a building for cheap games and prizes, as defined in the fourth definition by Hilsbro.
It is in fact a passageway through which people can travel...
so please stop mentioning the penny arcade or video games because it's different.
Sorry, it was just bothering me.

and I should have been more clear.
Penny arcade as in: the look and feel of that century portrayed in that area.

I've never been ... but the pics of DLP's Main Street arcades .. are just stunning .... and will love DL's to be an inspiration from theirs.

I don't know how they would pull this off ... Space between the backside of Main Street .. and the little alley way next to Star Tours is already tight as it is. (Not to mention the CM eatery the "Inn Between".)

If they can figure out a way to fit one in .... good for them!
