Re: Pirates section in World of Color?

As K_peek said, Steve made no mention of Pirates during the WoC presentations. If Pirates are in fact part of the show, i'm not sure what sequence they would fit in. Probably Colors of the Sea, or Color of Fears.

keep in mind that Steve Davison said that a lot of what shows up in the original concept art is no longer part of the show.

Re: Pirates section in World of Color?

The score is of course amazing. We will have to wait and see. Think they can make a pirate ship with a water cannon out the side from water?

I can see it now, in front, smaller fountains create the wavelike motions of the ocean as in the back, the largest mist screen takes shape. Suddenly there is the Pearl! The side of the ship is made of and projected onto a front screen of fountains with the majestic black sails straining under the force of the gails. Suddenly through the front screen cannons blaze in a powerful broadside as water shoots through the screen toward the screaming fans. All the while louder than one can imagine the "The Medallion Calls" blares from the speakers to the tune of the shifting sea.

You know what would be awesome is reenacting the Bombarding the Fort sequence from the ride. The ship could be projected (as stated above) with water shooting out of the cannons toward the audience and water exploding right in front of the viewing area. Then water could be shot out of the planters (as rumored) back at the ship and water could explode by the ship. The water being shot could maybe have yellow and orange lights on the streams to look like fire from the cannon ball.

I know that we are supposed to be remaking movies in the show, but this was just an idea if they ever wanted to redo WOC as a RDCT type show.

I LOVE the scores he did for the Pirates movies. The music ranks up there with the very best and most memorable movie score themes. so I hope they find room in the show for a little time for Pirates. And I'm also highly anticipating some of Hans Zimmer's score from The Lion King being used in WoC! I really love the score he did for that movie, too. Can't wait for the wildebeast stampede!!! Finally, The Lion King will be a part of something at DL on a long term basis!

i could see this idea working. If it is not added for the premier show i could see it as a great way to do some synergy with the next pirates movie.

the one scene that might be interesting to duplicate could be the curse pirates rising out of the bay and a two pirate ships in battle as the kraken rises and takes them down with him

Too bad they couldn't add a battle between the black pearl and another ship. A similar thing to the Colombia in F!

I'm sure they could with the multiple projecting surfaces.

The Black Pearl and the Flying Dutchmen would be perfect.

They could also make the whirlpool effect by pulsing the fountains on the grid in a circular whirlpool motion around a central point. However, the boats couldn't move too much so that might not work.

    Ok, new vision:
Meefog rolls in over the lagoon creating a thick blanket on the surface of the water. Grind nozzles move their streams in a pulsing motion across the lake very wavelike creating a rolling sea and agitating the fog. Swirling and tossing begin in the ocean as green and dark blue light flood the fog and spray reminding any sailer of the terror that is a storm. The back screen pressurizes with a scene of intense rain pooring down over a vast fog shrowded ocean. Lightning flashes through the thick dark clouds which span across the two side screens as well. Then, piercing through the fog like a knife on the right screen is the Black Pearl cannons ablaze to an orchestration of The Medallion Calls. From the veil of a front wall of fountains The Flying Dutchman erupts from underwater onto the left screen engaging the Black Pearl with its own broadside. Bursts of water fly back and forth with blasts of flame from the fire cannons. Debris and cannonballs fly toward the crowd in the form of H2O as the epic battle continues on the high seas. Then from the middle of the water the gaping tentacles (water whips) of the mighty Kraken emerge. A giant eye (a white dome) looks on as the tentacles reach for the of the ships. The Black Pearl fires a broadside and flames erupt from where the Kraken resides underwater. The tentacles retreat (with one whipping down close to the audience). The Dutchman after the loss of it's secret weapon retreats into the waves as the Pearl sails on across the main screen disappearing into a shroud of smoke while the storm continues to roll over the waves.
