    Tower of Terror Change...

Has anyone else noticed that the little girl's doll in Tower of Terror (during the pre-show video and on the ride itself) is no longer a doll, but a Mickey Mouse toy? What happenned? It seems like a lot of work to redo the ride just for some lame product placement.

Then again, maybe not. I always liked that the ride had a lack of Disney-related theming. It's like putting a Donald Duck toy in Pirates of the Caribbean - it just doesn't work.

    Sigh.

    Re: Tower of Terror Change...

I believe it always was a M.Mouse doll, even in Florida. It was considered a Hidden Mickey.

I could be wrong--but I do remember giggling when I saw it in Florida and that it was kept in the California version.

Yes that was always there in the video as a hidden Mickey. Because I thought it funny when I saw it for the first time. Since I don't believe they had stuffed mickey toys back in the 1920's when the story was suppose to have happened. I have found a few more too.

I always thought that the little girl was holding a doll, but there is a doll in the lobby and maybe I was imposing the doll from the lobby into the videos.

1920s? The story starts with "Hollywood, 1939." Mickey was born in 1928. And, yes, Mickey has been in that video since the ToT's 1994 premier.

As a nice touch too, the Mickey doll is of the retro design, so it looks like what a Mickey doll would look like in 1939.

Yeah, it's always been there. It's the only "Hidden Mickey" in the entire ride. And if you categorize Hidden Mickeys as only the tri-circle silhouette then Tower of Terror does not have any Hidden Mickeys.

Somewhat off-topic... but I think that it's interesting that there aren't any Hidden Mickeys in the ride. Its kind of weird

It IS the Twilight Zone, so it's suppose to be weird.

And I thought this thread was on the drop profile changing coming next summer.

For the people who thought she held a doll, have you seen the Tower of Terror movie? Because in the movie, I believe the girl is holding a doll (and that might be why you're confused).

The Florida version of TOT has a Hidden Mickey in a star field right before the drop sequence, which in my opinion is one of the coolest Hidden Mickeys ever. As far as DCA goes, I do remember reading somewhere that Hidden Mickeys were intentionally left out by Imagineers. Budget cuts, maybe?

Budget cuts? I know we all enjoy the cool hidden Mickey's but even the simple ones are fun to find. And really - how expensive can it be to take a tuna can and press a Mickey head into wet paint, cement, etc...?

I believe the "budget cuts" comment was a joke.
