I'm a D23 member. I didn't purchase tickets for this event for several reasons:
a) It's a wednesday night. Driving from LA to OC after work in the middle of the week seemed like a chore. Granted I used to make that commute every day when I lived in OC, but now, I wasn't sure if I wanted to do that and THEN stay up really late to make the return drive.
b) It's $65. Just $10 less than a full day ticket... and you only get Fantasyland. Hrmm. I know that the special guests were going and that was great. I know that there would be cupcakes and treats, but I remembered the Disneyland Birthday D23 party and those cupcakes were meh. (and having bought a few expensive things this year, $65 was not something I had laying around).
c) None of my close friends wanted to do it.. not for $65. Of course, when I was sending updates about what was going on, they were all "OMG" "Lucky!" "How???" "I wish I could go!" Yah, isn't that always the case?
So how did I find myself at this exclusive D23 Party? Micechatter Juliemouse sent out a few messages saying that she has an extra ticket... and half off.
Hrrmmmm. $32 for a Disneyland private party. Now... that's something I can do!
I grabbed my camera and left the Pasadena area at 18:16 and got to Disneyland around 19:30. Not bad. I got some McD's drive thru first because I was starving and knew that the party was only going to be treats. I scarfed it down in the parking structure which was FREE for those coming in that late.
Remember where you parked:
There was a long line to register and since Juliemouse was the one who purchased the ticket, transferring the guest ticket wasn't a problem.
How many times can you hear "What line is this for?" before going mad?
I didn't do a great job capturing moments of what I did or of the party itself. But hopefully these snap shots will somewhat show you how it all played out. Sorta.
20:45 they started letting people in. You got a purple wristband and as you were going in, regular guests were piling out. Everyone piled in front of the Sleeping Beauty Castle and Partners statue as a loudspeaker recording welcomed D23 members to Disneyland.
21:00 -- We listen to part of Walt's welcome speech and then we see some fireworks before we pile in through Sleeping Beauty Castle.
First order of business: PETER PAN'S FLIGHT! Ever see a line this short?
