I have a good friend (back to high school days) who is a current CM at both DL and DCA. Earlier this evening, she called briefly to share news she has been hearing of both in-company and outside casting scheduled to begin, for new in-park characters following the acquisition of the Marvel stable of franchises.
This would be a preliminary, "testing" phase, to see how Guests respond to the new characters and the Marvel brand. Central Casting, I am told, is seeking performers to portray Gambit and Rogue of X-Men fame to do meet-and-greets in New Orleans Square, Spider-Man performer for Fantasyland courtyard, Sue and Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four with a back drop in Tomorrowland, and Wolverine to take up residence in Critter Country.
This initial roll-out of the characters would be small in scale, apparently, to gauge reaction among visitors. If all goes well, a new nighttime presentation on the Rivers of America has been the buzz among Cast Members. Word is, effects testing has been run very quietly after park closing in NoS/Frontierland. Starting in New Orleans Square, a live performer would portray Ghost Rider, the Spirit of Vengeance, in his battle against Morbius, the Living Vampire. This would start potentially as a small show on a newly constructed stage near the French Market, then transition and culminate into a larger scale experience using the Fantasmic! infrastructure already on the river, with flame effects, projections, and smoke. Park officials and higher-ups think this would capture a new demographic for this area of the park after nightfall, with a combo stunt show and river extravaganza. Oh, and by the way, my friend also wanted me to share: april fool's. Thank you for reading...this has been a recording. If you enjoyed this post, my name is Brenda, and this has been the World Famous Jungle Cruise, if you didn't, I'm Steve, and this has been the Storybook Land Canal Boats.
