Ironically I STARTED this thread because I was looking at most of these pictures here yesterday and got excited again thinking about this area. And I never seen the third pic before, so thats cool!

Does anyone know if and when they will actually show a model in the preview center? The glimpses here and there on this area is great, but frustrating at the same time. I wish we can have just ONE overview pic of this place like we get of Carsland, the PP renovations etc. I guess because it is just an entrance and no attractions to highlight, there isnt a real push to promote it like the others.

But I hope they throw that model in the preview center one day. That will be really cool!!
TLM is next for the Blue Sky Cellar. I'm sure once BVS come closer to opening, it will be featured in the Cellar with models and more concept art. And regarding attractions, it will have the Red Car Trolley and the exhibit in the Carthay Circle theatre. Though i'm still not clear on what will be going in the theatre. Oh and the sixth picture shows some sort of vehicle, maybe that will be another mode of transportation in addition to the trolleys.

I'm hoping they bring back Golden Dreams and play it in a small screen in the theater lobby (similar to what the do with the Steve Martin film in the Opera House.)

I'm really excited for Buena Vista Street, too! It's kind of unoriginal, since they're taking a similar concept of Main Street, but it'll definitely be better than Sunshine Plaza. Good riddance to the letters.

Yeah I heard about TLM coming to the preview center. That will be cool, but I don't get why the preview center can't have one permanent model of the new DCA at least? Or if that is too expensive to do, why not just one really nice detail map of the park and not just that stylized map they show everywhere.

I think it would just hit people who doesnt follow this stuff as closely as we do if it had one nice size model and highlight how different the park will be in a few years time and see the overall changes of the place.

And I agree about Golden Dreams. Why not just play that in the theater until they find something more permanent? There are bare effects, its not exactly ITTBAB. Besides the book ends of Califina (which isnt needed), its just a regular 2D film and it will still remind us what the park is still suppose to be about, so why not?

And yeah, it will kind of suck they build this thing, make it the new icon of the park, but then not only is nothing in it, it may not even be open to explore until they find something to play in it....and that can be years.

The Blue Sky Cellar can only hold a certain amount of things, they don't have unlimited space unfortunately. For example, the Cars Land model at the D23 Expo was huge, I don't think we'll get to see that at the cellar.

It would be nice to see a detailed map of the finished expansion, but their plans are still changing and nothing is finalized.. so I doubt they want to take the risk of presenting a detailed map when they're still working out the final designs.

If you look at the second picture I posted, you'll notice a showbuilding behind the Carthay Circle Theater, so they're obviously planning on adding something big in there.. can't wait to find out exactly what that "something" will be.

After looking at the photos, you remind me of why I look forward to this very much. It's really more epic and it really looks like 1930's era Hollywood. What I think will make the land more unique will definantely be the Trolleys that travel around the park. I actually look forward to that since DCA really does lack any kind of real autheticity, and BVS looking like something from the past as well as having trolleys around will make it a big improvement over what they have now.

Yeah, I agree, thats why I said a smaller model! Nothing like in those pics or the model of Carsland at D23. Nice but a little too wide maybe lol. But if its space, time, money or all of the above, its not a big deal for not having a model.

And sure I understand things change, but I still dont get why they cant have a really nice general map just the same. Unless they plan on MASSIVE changes like BVS, Carsland etc, it will just show people an overall outline of DCA. People understand things change. Just put a disclaimer saying the map represent the current plans at time of the drawing, but things may change. They got a HUGE model of Screamin in there, but if Al's right we wont be seeing the parachute jump ride anytime soon now.

And I'm guessing not really all that much will change at this point anyway. WOC is nearly here, SSS is all but done and most of PP is being completed except the route 66 changes so far, construction has begun on Carsland and TLM and TECHNICALLY BVS has sort of begun with the Red Car Trolly tracks being layed down, so any changes at this point will probably be minor things like new restaurants/shops or placemaking. Or if they cancel Goofy Sky School at the last minute, most of us will live.

Good eye on the Cathay Theater pic! Yeah, it would be nice if SOMETHING goes in opening day. Hell, I will be happy if they turned it into a mini-Disney Family museum 2 for awhile, I just want the thing to be opened.

I don't know why but I am most excited about this evolution of the park. The entrance is what sets the tone and if it comes close to anything like the models above, this is going to be an incredible entrance to the park. It looks so much more elaborate, but welcoming and warm at the same time- a great echo of Disneyland across the way. Can not wait until they tear Sunshine Plaza APART!!!

I actually like the current entrance to DCA, so I will miss it.

But I'm REALLY excited for Buena Vista Street! From the pictures and models, it looks like it will be really incredible, and a huge improvement to what we currently have. I can't wait! It's probably the thing I'm looking forward to most out of the known expansion plans.

Yeah that pic is so cool! Ironically I just saw it an hour before nonob88 posted it from the Disneyblog video posted today. It shows not only how well detailed, but also how open the area will be too. And it wont look like the vast empty openess of sunshine plaza where it feels like you are walking through a sparse outdoor shopping mall with many of the shops closed up.

And with the tracks being laid now and the cars being built, I dont think they will skimp out now on the Red Cars. BTW, does anyone know how many of them will be on the tracks? I'm guessing at least two at least, but will there be more?

I read on the tracker thread sometime starting the end of this year. I could be wrong, but thats what I remembered. Will have a look.

Yep, it will be October 2010 as of now...as all things with Disney though, I would consider that date pending.

It is similar to mainstreet! That had not occured to me, but I don't have a problem with that.

Sometimes you have to do what works...

Consider Beuna Vista street more of a nod to Disneyland's Main street rather than a copy. something that ties the two parks together harmoniously.

Yeah... I am really excited about the entire makeover!

Hopefully this will mean no more songs with California (or CA cities) in it. DCA has ruined California Dreaming for me.

That makes two of us! Really looking forward to BVS, but I will certainly miss certain elements of Sunshine Plaza. I will miss hearing California Dreamin, Route 66, Surf City, as I enter the park.

DisneyMickey - I'm pretty sure construction will begin this year in the Fall.

In addition to everything that has been mentioned, i'm really looking forward to all the decorations and streetmosphere they will add here. Imagine BVS all decked out for the holidays!

    According to AL's article

"In October the massive makeover to DCA's main entrance will get underway, and Buena Vista Street construction will begin from the existing California letters all the way past the Sun Plaza."
