    Fireworks Shows Cancelled- Guest reactions

I've have been to DL on nights when fireworks are cancelled, and I know that the people around me aren't happy about the show being cancelled.

Doesn't it seem wrong to complain about fireworks being cancelled since high winds aren't something that Disney has no control of? I mean, I know you've paid a lot to be there but they make it clear that everything is subject to change without notice.

As a frequent visitor and an AP, fireworks being cancelled isn't a big deal which is a case for locals.

Sometimes i'll strike up a conversation with someone who is from out of town and is excited for the fireworks and happens after they announce the possibility. When this happens, they panic. I assure them that the chances of the show being cancelled at that point was 50/50.

I don't see a lot of angry people though in mid-show cancellation situations since they did see some fireworks but I still feel anger in the guests.

If you haven't seen it, it's not easy to hear on your last night at the park that they are canceled.
But yes, to complain doesn't help much.
They can either satisfy ppl and risk burning the area down or be safe.
I think being safe is the better option.

I'm pretty sure it's just disappointment...

For the out-of-town visitor, the fireworks are highly anticipated and special moment in his or her day (and potentially final day at the parks).

I'm sure the complaining isn't really directed towards the company, just the situation.

I'm sure that if the guest control CM's can explain the situation better prior to the cancellation, then that can discourage any unecessary complaints that are sure to happen at City Hall.

Re: Fireworks Shows Cancelled- Guest reactions

This past December we took our two youngest children to Disneyland for the very first time. I myself had never seen fireworks disney style so that was something we were very much looking forward too. We waited in our spot almost an hour and winds began to pick up. It wasnt looking good and the CM warned there may not be fireworks. We were definetely disappointed but luckily were staying two nights so we decided we would give up our spot and take our chances that fireworks would not begin as soon as we walked away. No fireworks that night but we saw them on night 2 and loved them! I can understand why some would be disappointed especially when you know you will not be back to visit again for a long time not to mention the reaction of the children when they realize they will not see fireworks...It is not a good feeling but what can you do...safety first!

In our case we asked the CM honestly what do you think and she explained that she had worked there for a very long time and she did not believe that fireworks would begin...so we took that and we left...no reason to stay any longer and be more disappointed. Had we waited longer I am sure more disappointment would set in....

It would actually if you stayed longer. Most guest control CM's have a good idea of the possibility of the fireworks being cancelled each night.

I just feel pity for those CM's that have to get the complaints thats not even about them.

This is why we plan for the fireworks on the first night of our visit so that if it is cancelled we keep trying every night until it works. On our trip in Nov. we had to wait four nights for it to be acceptable enough weather for the show.

Yes I agree...It really is not there fault I mean it's not like they can control the wind..right? I am sure if people would ask them for an honest opinion they would get one (as we did) and that would be that.

I'm going to start by saying that fireworks have been cancelled on us 4 times, and it sucks. But again, Disney is just keeping us safe and there is nothing they can do about the weather.

A few years back when RDCT was cancelled, there was a guy in his mid 20s who started to shout Disney sucks!
He was escorted backstage by a few CMs after that, so some people really do blame the Company for weather conditions.

That would've made me angry if I heard something like that.

I'm evil. I like it when I get to hear the collective "aaaawwwwwww". It's at such an exact interval, that you can pinpoint the exact moment it will happen, every time. And I just LOL. Mwahahahahaaaa!!!!

Sure, I feel bad about those who don't get to see the show. I'm not completely heartless. I just find the exact unanimous timing hilarious.

I have found the CM's to be truthful about the percentage
and also give information on why.
There is also the announcements every so many minutes keeping ppl updated.
It's a big disappointment, but Disney does go out of their way to inform the guests.
