Motor Boat Cruise to Gummi Glen

    Hey guys,
just been watching the best half hour cartoon ever (Gummi Bears :-) and was curious about their presence in the parks. I found quite a bit of footage of the Disney Afternoon Parade which looked awesome but I haven't been able to find any of the Motor Boat Cruise refurb incorporating them. Any ideas?

I did find an old thread on here but it was closed and the links were dead.

Does anyone know if any of the characters still make it in to the park(s) or if they've been AWOL since the mid-nineties :-)

Nope, no Gummi Bears anywhere after the 90s. It's sad really.

Yea, long gone are the glory days of the Disney afternoon. I really wish that they would have continued airing these on the Disney Channel but I guess HanLey MonCyrus and terrible 3-D animated kiddie shows are all the rage these days... what's happening to this planet?!?

I rode the motor boats only once and it was around that time priod when they had the Disney Aftonoon area over there. From what I remember they incorporated the gummi bears into the ride but in the form of what seemd like cardboard cutouts placed in the grass along the ride.

I always thought it would be a great idea to create a flume ride or coaster that took advantage of the gummi bears transportation system. Its been a long time since I've seen the show but I recall that they used tree trunks in a luge manner of transportation. Always thought that was cool.

I always wanted them to make a Gummi Bear Quick Cars from Critter Country (the forests) to Fantasyland (the castle area)... just like in the cartoons. It's just an alternate way to get to and from that back area.

Seriously, back when I was a kid I used to think that Disney had to have conceptualized the quicktunnels for an attraction, in the cartoon the quicktunnel car even looked like a Disney park's safety compliant ride vehicle. Then again I also was dead set that Indy was going to have a mine-cart roller coaster too.

I meant at Disneyland LOL!! And dressing up a dumbed down Primevil Whirl to look Indy themed isn't an Indy mine cart ride in my book. But thanks for the nudge nonetheless!

    you're welcome

i know what you mean, it's pretty good (inversion) but could've done with being set out over a larger space, it does feel a bit squashed.

Yesterland has an article about MBC. Only one picture of Gummi Glen, though.

Primeval Whirl and the Indy coaster in Paris are 2 different types of coasters (Primeval is a spinning wild mouse & Indy is a more traditional coaster... with a loop!). Plus the Indy coaster came BEFORE Primeval Whirl.

Understood , simply stating my opinion that the two are the same to me despite their differences. It's certainly a far cry away from the Indy concept for DLR.
