Autopia may have been one of the rides to open with the park back in '55 but common consensus from the boards is that it's one of the least magical rides in the park. Kids may love it but without a doubt, they love the movie Cars more. And if they don't, they'll love a much more themed and much bigger track to ride upon. And if not that, people will tend to go for the newer designed cars to test out that are years ahead of Autopia's old and stinky cars. With the ride being rumored to be the "most expensive ever built" with a budget of $200 million -- do you think Radiator Springs will eventually cause the downfall and possible closure of Autopia?
My guess, in many ways, yes. Once that technology is tested out, even though it is in a different park, people will forget Autopia even exists. Once the ride opens, I predict Autopia's days of filling that queue ever again will be over. Some will take advantage of this time and go in the "15 minute wait time" that Autopia will forever be plagued with. Then slowly but surely, dwindle down to pretty much nothing other than APers trying to catch a little glimpse of their past before it is gone. That's just my prediction! Yours?
