    Disneyland Resort and Casino!

Simple. How exactly does that idea make you feel? Does it make you starking mad? Does it bring you a sense of joy? Do you think the idea can be done right and still keep the Disney magic and appeal while also bringing in more adult visitors? Or do you think it'll cheapen the Disney experience with the gambling scene? Does it set a bad example for children?

Personally, I don't like the idea as I am not a gambler but I know lots of people who do and would probably be at the resorts constantly if a casino were added in. It would definitely bring in an older crowd but I don't know if that'll scare parents away from bringing their kids. Altogether in my eyes, it's a bad idea but something I know Disney could do right if they put their minds to it. Maybe bets can be done in Disney dollars? Who knows.

Gambling, and the alcohol and other things associated with it are really not the sort of thing Disney wants identified with its brand.

    Re: Disneyland Resort and Casino!

Even if they wanted to, which I don't think they would. The only types of non-tribal gaming allowed in California are card rooms, horse racing, and the State Lottery. And there is a ban on new card room licenses and I don't think that Anaheim allows them even if you could get one. So basically the idea is darn near impossible. I suppose they could possibly make some kind of sleazy deal with a Native Americn group and possibly open one. But of course that would be complex and highly politically controversial, so they probably wouldn't want to do that either. I also don't think it makes sense to try and compete with Vegas. It's not a very realistic idea.

This idea doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

Al Lutz reported on an overlay they did to DCA, called "Disney's Casino Adventure", a few years ago.

I think several years ago there were plans to put an Indian Casino a few miles south on Harbor in Garden Grove. From what I understand those plans fell through. (The plan now is for a hotel/water park resort, but given today's economy I doubt that will ever go through).

Disney image aside, the idea of a casino and a theme park conflicts. The best Vegas can do is put a roller coaster on the top of a casino, so I doubt Disney would jump at the chance to put a casino near one of their roller coasters

They could put a poker room in one of the buildings upstairs in NOS, it would go great with the theme, party party!

Back in the day during the peak of the "Family Friendly" era of Las Vegas, Disney considered building a mega resort & casino on the strip but before plans could be drawn up Disney backed out.

    Re: Disneyland Resort and Casino!

I work in the casino industry and travel all over the US to different gaming jurisdictions and have seen problems. Some casinos try to incorporate things for kids to do and it never works out like it should. Parents will get too involved in gambling and forget about their kids. I've seen too many time where parents leave their kids in the car. I even have seen where there was a play area with supervision for the kids and something happends to the child and they can get the parents to stop gambling to care for the child. Vegas tried it and it didn't work.

I day keep Disneyland as a family destination with out a casino. I really don't see a need for it.

I 100% agree with you! We have a casino in our local area and I tell you, people go in there for days! I think if they incorporated a casino into the park you will see a dramatic rise in unsupervised children running a muck!

    Re: Disneyland Resort and Casino!

I go to Casinos often, love those free rooms at Lake Tahoe and in Reno.

That said, do you know who serves alcohol in casinos, totally hot women wearing band-aids. And the alcohol is free! Now as much as I love an almost naked woman serving me free drinks, it is not for Disneyland!

Vegas tried to be Disneyland (family era) and it didn’t work. So lets not try to make Disneyland into Vegas.

Now I need a smoke and a shot.

Oh yeah, casinos allow smoking, even in California!
