Holiday decorations in DCA - Flik's Fun Fair

The new oversized decorations for Flik's Fun Fair have begun to appear in DCA. There are some pics over on the MIBoards....

I kind of like those decorations - they fit with the land. That's always been one of my favorite things about the Disney Christmas decorations - you walk down Main Street and they are all very traditional, then you move into New Orleans Square and you have Christmas decorations with beads and alligators, and then Critter Country has pinecones and other land-appropriate items. I just wish they would do more with DCA - it's always struck me as lacking in the Christmas decor department, especially with its neighbor across the esplanade being so decked out!

those are cute! the city of Burbank did a similar scheme last year of really really oversized glittery-red ball ornaments. anyway, those fit perfectly into bug's land and I cant' wait to see the rest of the DLR decorations go up!!

I hope the lights in the San Francisco area look good. Maybe a few years down the road DCA could have their own mini version of the Osborne Family Lights.

I really like the oversized christmas lights... but the big ornaments look weird. They should at least be holiday colors (the blue throws that off) or at least with a snowflake or something painted on it. They look so.... bland..

Oh and don't even get me started on those horrific garlands with the huge gold ornaments completely covering them on the Golden Gate bridge. Ugly. Completely gaudy and tasteless... I was hoping they'd ditch those from last year.

    Ugh.

Maybe I'm just bitter because the theater I work at put up their obnoixious holiday decor two weeks ago, and the malls and Wal Mart have had their Christmas nonsense up for no less that three weeks.

    Sigh.

It wouldn't even have to be a mini version if they took the logical approach and put them up on Hollywood Boulevard--and it might even attract some more guests!

Disney has been using those gold garlands (hanging on the Golden Gate Bridge) every year at Christmas since DCA first opened. They're OK, but I wish they put something new/different there now.

The candy cane was added to the entrance of Flik's Fun Fair. So all that is needed is the large lights and it will look like the concept art. They also put in some topiaries around where the DCA Christmas tree will be. Pics are here.

It's a great idea. The Osborne Light display is very popular in Orlando. I would think it would be just as popular with the people out west. Californians can't seem to get enough of the fake snow, and Osborne lights at MGM uses mass amounts of it.

No doubt in my mind that it would boost DCA's holiday attendance.

Those are neat, are they new this year because I do not remember seeing them last year?

Those horribly gawdy all-gold garlands and wreaths on the Golden Gate Bridge (and several other places around DCA) are just a foreshadowing of what we'll be putting up with when the Christmas tree goes up over at DL next week.

Are they done with Flik's? Because while I like the stuff in the entrance and the Christmas lights and big ornaments, I expected them to do more. I wasn't sure if they were finished or not. I was hoping not.

I really like them... especially the HUGE lights!

I wish I had more time and money right now...
I'd love to do something like that in my front
    yard!
