The DLR Best Scene Tournament - The Dark Ride Competition

Now this next portion of the tournament could get the nastiest; we're dealing with some of Disneyland's opening original rides and it's newest. Whether you're a newborn or an 98 year old, these attractions can all be experienced as they are the classic "dark ride." Using some of Walt Disney's most treasured films, these dark rides are retellings of the stories while letting the guests be viewers within the films as they're taking place. A few of the other choices from the other rides in the tournament are also considered dark rides but these are the most traditional with just a plain car and track. The following dark rides to battle it out will be:

    - Snow White's Scary Adventures
    - Pinocchio's Daring Journey
    - Peter Pan's Flight
    - Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
    - Alice in Wonderland
    - Winnie the Pooh
    - Monsters Inc.

Now how this poll will work is each scene from each ride will be listed. Since it's too much to fit into one poll, simply copy and paste your favorite scene from EACH ride and your votes will be tallied. Only wish to vote for one ride or skip rides? That's fine but to make things more interesting, a vote for each or multiple rides will be appreciated. The top two scenes from whichever ride has the most votes will be pitted within the finalists of the tournament for the final showdown (so yes, possibly two scenes from the same ride or different rides). The Traditional Dark Ride Competition Winners' scenes will be placed within the main tournament to battle it out with The Haunted Mansion, Indiana Jones Adventure, Splash Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean and a few others. Since this isn't a traditional poll, the voting will last longer for double the time for more decisions to be made and tallied. Voters can change their favorite scene if they really feel they must do so within the four day timeline but they may not vote more than once for one single ride.

This post will be updated with each vote as time goes on to get a better look of the outcome.

Re: The DLR Best Scene Tournament - The Dark Ride Competition

    Snow White: Queen's disguise

    Pinocchio: Pleasure Island
(It was the capture scene with the lowering of the cage but that effect doesn't work anymore)

    Mr. Toad: Devils

Peter Pan: Flying Sequence Skull Rock/ Tiger Lily

(you might want to break the ride scenes down a bit further since the whole ride is technically a flying scene. Maybe like-
    Flying over London
    Flying over Neverland
    Skull Rock/ Tiger Lily
Hook's fight on ship with Peter Pan
Hook's fight with the jaws of the Crocodile
    Guiding the ship home
    Mermaid end)

    Back to the list:

    Alice: Red Queen's Army

    Winnie the Pooh: High Winds

Re: The DLR Best Scene Tournament - The Dark Ride Competition

Roger Rabbit, Toy Story & Buzz Lightyear were not included because they are interactive rides. I wanted the scenes to hold their own instead of being determined on how the rider decides to experience the scene by spinning the wheel or shooting at something.

The flying sequence on Peter Pan's scenes were way too close to each other to count as different scenes. Once they make it to Neverland, everything feels meshed together in one room.

Re: The DLR Best Scene Tournament - The Dark Ride Competition

So far the Flying Sequence from Peter Pan is at the top, with Mr. Toad's Wild Ride's Jail Break and descent into Hell is in second. Coming close into third is Pleasure Island, visited by Pinocchio on his Daring Journey. And oddly enough, in fourth, the gusty winds to blow across the Woods in Pooh's living space is in fourth place.

And to clarify, the Flying Sequence is the initial lift off moment over London and approaching Neverland. Once in Neverland, all the moments that take place (as listed by Fantasmico!) are counted as Neverland.

Re: The DLR Best Scene Tournament - The Dark Ride Competition

I think I got this wrong but were we supposed to pick our favorite scene in each ride or just the ride scene we like best overall?
