I was under the impression that lead was necessary to making it be brass? That without lead, it is something else. I'm not sure what the lead contributes.

I also think the lead issues is being blown out of proportion, that the amounts at Disneyland are probably minimal. Also, how volatile is the lead? Even if there is a substantial amount, if it's stable and not going anywhere, then it's still not a problem.

Watching the Baxter tour video again as part of my Halloween season watching. I'm not the only one who cringes every time he brings up Phantom Manor's story, gets it all wrong and tries applying it to the US show, right?

Yeah, count me in on that one too, about the PM backstory. And very much look forward to the Claude Coats post, HBG2!

Well, we all know that the Disneyland Attic is completely identical to Paris, right? (sarcasm)

We've talked before here about the re-use of head sculpts for the HM, mainly from Pirates (the duelists, assorted graveyard ghosts), but this one I am about to mention I don't believe was touched on at all that I remember here: alongside several sculpts from World of Motion at Epcot (used for the bank robber, sheriff, and others), Phantom Manor's 'mayor' character is in fact The Dreamfinder from Journey Into Imagination!

Kind of hard to miss now that you've got a frame of reference, isn't it?

Fantastic! But I wonder where he got that bride artwork? I've left a comment there asking.

Re: The Long-Forgotten Haunted Mansion Effect Thread 7: Further Realms of Fright

There was a fire at The Magic Castle today. I'm getting mixed reports and am not sure how much damage was done. All I know is that it appears to have started in the attic, after some sort of maintenance was performed.

As many of you know, the working Haunted Mansion ballroom model is housed and exhibited at the private club, along with many other irreplaceable artifacts. I hope that the damage wasn't severe and that little was lost.

So far, all The Castle is reporting is that The Amazing Irma and The Houdini Room are untouched. Fast forward to 7:58 in the second video, to see the ballroom model.
