Actually, the HM game had little to nothing to do with the movie. It takes place in a different universe and the only element of the movie carried over was the only good one: set design. Besides that, it's more based on the ride.

Haunted Mansion Update 3/28/2014 (2 rides later afternoon, 1 ride evening):

It's Grad Nite time at the DLR and since Grad Niters get a free park hopper to use all day before their Grad Nite starts later in the night the park was packed. The Mansion line started outside the gates, but was still only about 20-25 minutes.

    Pickwick is still missing.

Those green and red lights I mentioned endlessly a few months ago have been muted, except under buggy #35. I was in #36 on my evening ride and they were glaring at me. Either they were never covered with the rest or their masking has fallen off.

    Something I never noticed before:
Nobody likes a skunk, even in death. Poor Lilac, doomed to spend eternity segregated away from the rest of the pets...

Too bad the game dev team made that baffling cast choice for Madame Leota and made her sound like a cliche southern belle for some reason.

Not only that, but they plant "Society Garlic" (Tulbaghia violacea) all around it, because it has a "skunky" smell.

Time to update your photo files, kids. Have you been limping along with these two pix?

Cast them aside! Here are better copies:

The first is from 1969. The second is from sometime in the 1980s.

I'll look, or smell, for that next time.

I forgot to look at the graveyard AA faces to see (or not see) details, as you mentioned in your trip report. I *did* notice that the CoD door knockers are very quiet. Was their clacking practical or was it part of the audio mix?

I love Lilac and her society garlic "escort!" I look for that every time I go.

Just awesome. Undeniably better in the past with the additional features (RIP flowers, lamp post and tombstones), no Splash Mountain next door killing the atmosphere or wacky pet cemetery and people dressed a lot better. However, still basically preserved and awesome in its classic non-Holiday incarnation, when it looks like a frat house after one hell of a party.

That is, quite possibly, the best description of the exterior decor of HMH that I have ever heard.

Well, whatever happened to our new "Haunted Mansion" movie from Guillermo Del Toro? It's been years since he said that he would do the movie. It should have been done, out to the theatres, and out on DVD by now!

    What's the latest word?

    Anybody?
