Should they have just left it alone?

There are some interesting arguments being made on the river thread.

They did the best they could do w/ the budget they had.
At least the foliage looks nice.
We should be grateful they did anything at all.

You know what? I don't accept that. I refuse to take what I'm given and be grateful. I say, if you can't do something right, don't do it at all. Most everyone has acknowledged that the new river is a mixed bag at best. Why are we making excuses for WDI? If this is the best they can do, maybe they should have just hosed the bird poop off of the animals, done some repainting, and left the river alone. Don't have the budget? Don't redo the river.

    What do you think?

I think the whole River debate is much ado about nothing.

Anything that helps the wilderness theme overpower the PIRATES theme is A-OK USA!!

Not sure what the debate is over. It seem to me that they cleaned up the river, made some changes here and there. The river is a relaxing part of the park, the "decor" should be subtle. The changes seem nice to me.

I think it's great that they did this. Even if it wasn't to their full potential, it's something. They didn't have to do this, but they did. WDI does care, just management is a flop.

I like the changes. I think it's better than what there was before: a literally rotting mine train, a sinking keelboat, moose with poop on them, overgrown shrubs, and static Indians. Now we have more animals to look at, improved show scenes, and some great new flora and fauna. I like the changes and hope more is to come.

The one issue I have is if they can spend the time and effort and money to refurb the river, why can't they refurb Ft Wilderness? Ugh, I dislike the pirate theme, especially now more then ever because it clashes with the theme.

Yah... what is the debate? Did they announce changes that weren't delivered?

I'm glad they refurbed the river. It was much needed. As far as the scenes go. I don't care, it was fine the way it was for me. I am glad the river is getting TLC.

    OK QUESTION:

    1) On my trip, most of the figures were static. Do any except the indians in the village and the eagles move?
    2) Saw no mountain lions. are they in yet? pics?

Re: Should they have just left it alone?

I'm trying to figure out if they bought those plastic animals at Armstrong's, ACE, Home Depot or Lowe's... possibly even Bass Pro. Initially I thought they were using hunting decoys but upon closer inspection that cheap crap won't even fool an animal much less a kid. If they had raided the Shooting Gallery in Frontierland it probably would have turned out better.

It's sad when my only positive comment about the river is "I like the plants"...
