Backstage Pass AP Newsletter = World of Trouble For DCA?

Has anyone else received their Backstage Pass Spring/Summer 2010 yet? If all one million AP holders got one of these in the mail recently, I have to wonder how DCA is going to handle the incoming crowds. I know that there has already been quite a bit of discussion on this, but....holy shmokes. A QUAD-FOLD, uber colorful advertisement right at the front? I know they want people to come this thing but....I thought they were already expecting hoards of AP holders to come this Summer. Isn't this a bit of overkill? As if they WANT the AP holders who weren't really paying attention thus far to come out and join the rest of the mob in June? If the lowest tiered APs are still unblocked on June 14, 15, 21 and 22....what are THOSE nights going to be like?

I thought they might...oh....I don't know....let the crowds build by word of mouth so that they could deal with the 9000...er...6000 people per show during the first few weeks without quite as much madness and mayhem. But it seems that marketing has gone above and beyond here. You would expect the cover on the newsletter to be World of Color, but then you open it and...BAM! Then you fold it out. Then you fold it out again...

I'd have to say that I think it's done beautifully. Kudos to marketing for putting that thing together. It's just....so....HUGE!

Maybe I'm over reacting, but....I think the lines to see this show just got a whole lot longer.

And all the APs who pass their Backstage Passes onto their relatives (which happened to me, a non-AP). This is going to be crazy.

It's going to be crazy enough. What does it matter? My question is the design of the characters in the ad. Solid characters, with water splashing around them. The juxtaposition of the two kinda bugs be, and comes across odd to me. They did it for a reason, but I would have designed it differently.

It wouldn't be a very smart move not to have AP previews, there's so many things they need to work out with guest control that going into the show blindly will cause many problems.

I work in a completely different arena of the professional world, but I would bet that those in charge of marketing have very little to do with the people who coordinate the crowd control aspect of the parks. In my business, there are people who handle PR and they are rarely in touch with or at the same meetings as logistics people. I'm sure that the PR department would just love to say that WoC played to "standing room only crowds" for the first month and was greeted by unparalleled, record-breaking attendance. I guarantee that those in charge of crowd control at DCA said "They sent WHAT out to al the AP holders?!" when they found out.

    Bright side
    1. Not too long wait times at Disneyland
    2. Maybe I can finally snag a primo spot at Fantasmic.
    3. Time to snap some pictures like what others have taken.
    4. My own private Disneyland.

Good idea... we're shooting for September of this year, but I am worried that it's still going to be packed.

My AP expires in 18 days (june 2), I am contemplating renewing. I'm sure if it's a good investment at this time
