Is it too late to theme it to Star Trek instead?

Any attraction that has the name "II" or "2" does not deserve any hype from me.

You know, to be honest, I agree a bit here.

I hate that Disney has strayed from imagination and innovation to just straight brand whoring.

I think an entirely new experience in that ride would be much cooler than "Star Tours II". Maybe some kind of journey to a new planet or a blast through the human nervous system. Heck I don't know. Just SOMETHING that actually had a hint of originality and imagination.

and if you think about it. The ride... is going back in time!

They are going to Episodes 1,2 and 3 instead of doing 4,5 and 6 or even going past the movies with original ideas.

Is there confirmation its only going to involve stories from the prequels? I have a feeling it will probably cover all of the movies IF the multi destination thing is true.

I've heard a lot of good reasons why the ride could be less than impressive. However, another poster brought up a good point that hasn't been refuted yet. What hype? Even if the ride is less than spectacular I won't care because it seems like an afterthought to me. I almost wish Disney could do this with all their new attractions.

It's a great day when you go out and buy a new convertible. It's a ridiculously spectacular day when one just appears in your driveway one morning.
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Why does space travel attractions promote motion sickness? Is it a necessary component to the attraction? I've done Star Tours once and I am done with it.

I hope they just call it Star Tours. No need to add a 2 to the name. Just inform people that it's a brand new adventure.

Re: will Star Tours II live up to the hype???

I'm expecting a relatively cheap update, something on the order of Country Bears Vacation Hoedown, which required new programming, new songs, and new props, but otherwise used the same mechanics. I should add that Country Bears Vacation Hoedown was, after the freshness wore off, somewhat weaker than the original show.

I suppose they could greatly improve the Star Tours experience with new technology alone. However, they don't have much of a track record when comes to refreshing existing attractions, likely because the budget is small and the time is shorter than when they do an original attraction. Anyone remember Great Moments with Cunningham's Haircut?

My greatest realistic hope is that the ride will feel as fresh and new as when I first rode it 23 years ago, a nice D ticket. Extra points if they get Paul Rubens back and don't have Jar Jar.

Star Tours 2 has been in the planning stages for a while. It won't be a simple makeover. The random events that will happen on the ride should be more than worth it by itself.

Boba Fett was a rug rat in the prequels. If Boba is involved in Star Tours, then the ride is set between Empire Strikes Back and before his death in Return of the Jedi (when he was actually on Tatooine).
