Re: World of Color Reviews and Photos - (OFFICIAL THREAD)

My friend couldn't take me to the preview yesterday, but he said that he was in absolute awe the whole show.

He also gave me the tip: If u sit in the first row. Prepare to be soaked!

We are the corps The Cavaliers,
There is no corps we fear,
We march along and sing this song,
For we know that we never never will go wrong, so
    March onto victory Cavaliers,
As we march on through the years,
We march along and sing this song,
    For we are The Cavaliers.

I have a question, I have reservations for the second showing of World of Color on Opening Night. The second showing is at 10:15 but I looked at the park hours and the park closes at 10. Does that mean that only people with fasspasses and reserve seating are allowed in the park when the show starts?

Seems like a useless restriction. The magic apparently hasn't been diminished by the leaks and videos already prevalent on YouTube. And, once the show opens up to the public on the first night, will ALL the video that will be posted therefore ruin the magic for ALL guests that follow???

I'm so bummed out I didn't get to see it last night
It was my last night down there and we saw all the the setup and what not going on over at DCA that day. And while I was over at DTD I could hear the music and see the lights from the show, so sad I missed it because now I'm home and I won't be back for a bit. But I'm glad to hear its really enjoyable, I can't wait to see it.

There are a few segments that don't really work (IMO). While the music and fountains did quite well throughout the entire production, many of the animated segments fell apart. The segment just prior to Poccahantas (unclear what it actually was), Aladdin and a couple of others were just not very strong.

The PotC segment stood out as being the only portion that was live action, NOT animated.

Overall, I was more impressed with the great water and light effects and less so with the animation.

Also, the planter fountains were a useless addition and did NOTHING to enhance the show.

My pleasure...you really have to be there to take in the sights and sounds to get the full affect, but at least you get get an idea of how the show is put on. Did you notice the laser "wave" effect? It's even more amazing in person!

I just got home from one of the cast previews, it was amazing, yes, the lion king scene was heartbreaking and everyone in our area (blue) was slightly disturbed by the "lull" it created, but as soon as it picked up again, everyone seemed to forget the lull, I wouldn't call it a deal breaker. i will say however, that blue was a fantastic place to view from! I can't wait to see it again!

I saw it tonight after park closing, and at least for us CM, we showed our WOC tickets and they let us through the gate on the far left (when facing the park) then we were directed by security to our colors section and waited in a forever moving line to get our spot in our section. It was pretty simple, and they sell flavored and regular popcorn and drinks along the line...and I think we saw glow carts as well. do make sure you use the restroom before getting in line, as once you are in, you can't leave (they take your tickets).

As for every Disney show, I expect a coherent story line with an introduction, complication, dark moment, epiphany, climax and resolution. World of Color does not deliver on this aspect. Instead of coming up with a story, the creators of the show decided to make it "World of Disney." There is no indication that they intended to make it a World of Color in any obvious way. The show is so focused on the projections that the water fountains are only there to assist the star of the show, the projections. After many months of hype and anticipation, World of Color does not deliver.
Why would you go in expecting a plot when the whole idea of it basically being a showcase of Disney along the lines of the fireworks was established since the beginning?

WOW!! What an amazing show. I got to attend the 9:00 show tonight. We showed the tickets that let us in the park and they let us start heading in about 5:45. Then we headed over to Grizzly. It looked like they had it well organized. We got a bit to eat and then we noticed the crowd kind of just standing right in front of where they let you in. They had everyone back away from that area until our showpass said to come back. Our ticket had the area blue and they had all the wheelchairs to head down first so not to get run over. Which the GC did a great job. I didn't see anyone pushing or shoving. We ending up on the third tier in the middle. Which I thought were great viewing. I didn't want to be to close up because I thought a little further back you would get a bigger over all pic of the show.
I do have a question about the picnic meals. They said that those you would have a reserved area and then if you did the 3 course meals would have prefered spots to view the show. And then all the others who had the showpasses were in the other areas.
I thought it was such a great addition to DCA. And I am also going to see it again on friday with some friends who are doing the picnic meal.
I will talk about this more at another time since I am very tired and need to get some sleep.
It was a big WOW factor. I kept saying look at this and then look at that. It is deffantly worth me going many other times thru this summer.
It looked like the 11:30 show had more people waiting that the 9:00 one did. What they did is the people who had showpasses to the 10:15, they had waiting down the path by Grizzly and they had people waiting for the 11:30 show went down the path all the way back to sunshine plaza.
Has anyone heard how many shows they are doing on opening night?
I am looking forward to seeing this again and maybe noticed things I may have missed seeing the first time. I loved everything about this!!
One more thing, they mentioned since these were sneek previews they didn't want anyone taking videos or pics tonight until it opens up to the geneal public.
