Just a guess - maybe to prevent rust on any scratches received during shipping or assembly as well as on the welds.

I think it's interesting how the RCT plaque says the Hollywood Tower Hotel was established in 1942. Maybe that's when it supposedly "reopened" to people like us after the incident.

I thought the 1942 stood for the year maybe that route of the Red Cars opened...is interesting though what it may stand for.

I really wish Burbank, TDA and WDI would take the oppurtunity of such a large rock structure being built to fix the south eastern siteline problems.

    Notice in this picture

    7-30-10 - recursivemacro's Photos

where the rockwork scaffolding ends behind the parade structure and then turns east and continues in front of the show building.

with some extra budget support right now they could easily continue adding some more vertical steel at the edge of the show building behind the parade structure to create a wall. This additional length would finally block the last power pole and lines as well as part of the ugly hotel structure that rises over that corner of Paradise Pier.

I am sure it would be less costly than trying to fix it later.

Of course the only hope i have is that eventually they are given a budget to fix the Screamin queue structure. Maybe giving that structure some height or decorative towers in certain positions would help as well.

Meanwhile i think a few more Palms added to the middle of Screamin Helix would help as well. That large helix is ugly and could serve as the perfect berm if lots of tall Palms would be placed there.

I think trees could do the trick. The entire PP perimeter needs to be lined with tall, thick trees to block out the outside world. Of course, nothing is going to help from the Fun Wheel's perspective. That is a lost cause.

I agree, If they are planning to make the side of the carsland facing the peir into rocks, then the rockwall could extend out to block the convention center.
OR maybe build some buildings or a set behind there to block it out. Anything would look better than the current view.

Re: Disney California Adventure Project Tracker X

I completely agree that they need to deal with those siteline issues, but I'm pretty sure I know why they didn't do that. If they had extended the wall behind the parade building, it would have had to be a much taller wall in order to block out all the views. It's a perspective problem. It order to block the power towers at that angle the wall would have to be basically just as high as the power poles. That would place it about 30' higher than the current highest point of the wall. It may not look like it that picture, but from many angles around PP it would have to be significantly taller to fully block all the bad views. This maybe could have been blocked from view from CL, but I'm not sure it would. It also would do nothing to help block the view of the parade building, which I also think should be fixed eventually, be a much thicker wall of trees or more rockwork. I also think a tall domed structure in the Screamin' helix, which could either hold a new queue or a small attraction, would look nice and help block the rest of the views as you guys mentioned.

Did the question of overhead wires for the RCT ever get answered?

If not, the height of the new light poles around ToT suggest there will be overhead wires:

It has been confirmed that there will be an overhead "power" line which does not power the trains. Just a huge prop.

That being said, September 7th is creeping up pretty quickly. The boards
should get really busy when a new set of walls take some more of DCA 1.0
    out of it's misery.
