I don't think the Carthay theated should house a ride. I think a display or something like the main street opera house or disney gallery, or even an updated blue sky cellar would all work better than a ride. If there is room, they should build a theater in the structure (it is the Carthay Circle THEATER after all). That way they could show a movie or a show like Mr Lincoln or even play golden dreams again untill they can film a new movie. Having an exhibit, that can be changed and updated as the park changes sounds like the best idea to me. A ride on BVS would be just as out of place as opening a dark ride on main street in DL. Is Disney still planning on making a Club33 lounge in the theater, because I don't like that idea either. Keep it open to the paying public.

I think a darkride in Carthay would be awesome. Unfortunately that would mean that Bug's Life would probably have to be removed or moved to that last plot of land next to TOT where Tuck and Roll's is.

There's one new attraction there. Two other attractions are minimal re-themes of existing attractions, one of which is a small family coaster.

The land is small. Smaller than Carsland, in fact, especially if you take into account that much of the land already existed and was simply rethemed, including the roller coasters and a restaurant.

There were many big complaints that the show building of the Forbidden Journey attraction is in plain view from inside the land. From certain angles within the land itself, you can see that Hogwarts castle is simply perched on top of a big building.

The queue of Forbidden Journey was touted as being a grand tour of Hogwarts, when it reality it turned out to be somewhat smaller and more cramped than people expected. Rumored elements like the moving staircase room and the main hall never materialized, and other rooms were much smaller than their film counterparts.

I give Universal a lot of credit for going above and beyond with a ride system that's never been tried before on that kind of scale. They used some interesting and immersive technologies for the Forbidden Journey attraction. However, let's not make Wizarding World out to be more than it is. It's a single attraction, and a nicely themed Hogsmeade village. There were many areas where "fans" felt things were skimped on, cut back on, or omitted altogether, and while many are totally satisfied with the land, I've seen many people who had visions of them doing so much more than they actually did. Sounds similiar to a lot of the things I've read in this thread.

It's in our nature to want more, especially when we see blue-sky concepts that rarely take budget into account. That's partly Disney's fault for giving us so much to look at and speculate about at such an early stage in development. This, however, isn't a new thing, and Disney (or any theme park) having to cut back their blue-sky ideas when it comes time to budget has been common practice since Disneyland was built in 1955. The difference now is that information flows much quicker and people discuss things thanks to the internet, so our expectations get inflated to unrealistic levels.

So to get back to my point: Just because something you saw in a piece of concept art doesn't show up, it doesn't always mean that it's because they skimped or cut back. What it means is that they shot as high as they could, were told how much budget they'd get, and then decided how to best use the money available. Sometimes they (the Imagineers) shoot higher on purpose as a form of bargaining tactic. If they really want $500M for a project, they'll sketch up some early designs that might require $700-$800, knowing they won't get that much. But that's better than saying "we need $500" and only getting $300.

Anyway, my perspective is that we're getting a whole lot of new stuff in the next few years, and I'm going to appreciate it for what it is, rather than look at what it could be. No matter how great something is in nearly every aspect of life, it's pretty easy to envision how it could be better. If you do that too often, however, you're going to be a very sad and disappointed person.
Go things come in small packages, so its really come down to...this land is small and two of the rides are just rethemes so its not soooo amazing. The Pier is just getting rethemes and two D ticket rides BUT who cares it going to be 10 times better.
Cars land will be cool but not cause its giving us 3 rides since two of those rides are just normal rides but with themes....Harry Potter land is better than anything Disney has done since Indy, the Q is SUPER detailed, the ride looks great and the whole land looks like its straight out of the book, so yeah we'll see if they can do that with Cars land.

Wizarding World may only include one new ride - but discounting the rest would be the same as calling Main Street just a bunch of shops.

The village is actually better then Main Street in many ways in terms of the tightly themed selection of shops, the performance in the Wand Shop, the transformation of the three broomsticks... the 'creation' of butterbeer... the type of merchandise available, etc.

Using such logic as calling Wizarding world just one attraction... we could say the same of Carsland right? One big e-ticket and 2 lesser attractions.. and rest of radiator springs is just some shops and food right?

This is people just slamming stuff. The sightline concerns over hogwarts are about the view from the OTHER lands more then anything.. and the queue for Forbidden Journey has blown everyone away.

As for concept art - the thing to remember is what they show you isn't always the current iteration, but in the case of DCA v2, I put a lot more weight into what they shown because not only did they do it for press releases, they've done it for actual 'tours' and indepth presentations in numerous formats. These presentations were not retrospectives of the art of Disney nor the science of imagineering - but rather product specific introductions and teasers.... well into the time frame where such major decisions would have already been made.

Now no plan is final till its done - but I don't discount the presentations as 'early work' - they were recent plans - they've just changed since they were last passed. For what reason they were changed? I don't like to speculate - that's for insiders to tell their tales... but change is always part of the plan.

From the Dateline Disneyland update, it does looks like they are just trimming down the pizza building. That is smart...save the infastructure there and that allows more money to be spent on other things like theming and detail. It had those funky, "hawaiin" corners on it's roof and it looks like they took it off on one side of the building while other has yet to have it. Is there a link to the concept art of Paradise Gardens and Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta? I remember when I first saw art for restaurant in BSC I was amazed at the detail. Like the Plaza Inn or something but better themed.

^ Yeah, there's no point in demolishing the whole building when a redo of the facade will do the trick.

Didn't they just renovate the kitchen there anyhow? Or was it the burger place?

Whatever they decide not to keep in the warehouse or the disney archive they usually sell it to mouse surplus or other companies who resell it to disney fans willing to pay the price
