1. Not yet. It might be for special events only.
2. Not recently since they started to swap out certain props in the queue and ride. Maybe when it goes down for refurb we will see a lot of changes after it reopens.

...not only that but its footprint is larger than that of the paradise pier hotel towers (not combined obviously)

The shops are not happening anytime soon. The rumor that it was going to close down later this year from bluesky disney is false. They just recently renovated Point Magu for WoC, so I doubt it would go down anytime soon. They really want to sell WoC merch, which we have been selling...like crazy! We've been breaking sales records all week. WoC is definitely helping us! With this track record, it would be dumb to close the shops now. And if they were to close down, the BSC would have mentioned it.
Also, the time that the shops were rumored to go down is also the time the Main Entrance shops will start to go down. And it's laughable to think that they would want 2 of the biggest stores in the park down at the same time.

I've never noticed this before, but the banner in this piece of art says "Boardwalk Candy Palace". Is this a hint of things to come...
^wow I wish Disney would put that much into the theme of the first first lands in DCA, but i feel just like how they did not do anything to the screaming line or carousel....they'll skip this too.
