    Talking World of Color Soundtrack

After almost two years of WOC anticipation we can all now enjoy the show, because the spectacular World of Color premiers tonight. I was wondering if anyone could share any info on the release of the WOC soundtrack. I think the music is amazing and should be shared. Does anyone have any idea if it will be released to the public?

I'd love to know this too - I'd be one of the first to buy it.

    Re: World of Color Soundtrack

    It's difficult to say....

The musical score of this show doesn't seem like it's going to be very static, because the show is supposed to change with new songs and scores through the years.

Where as Fantasmic! Which is a musical score we all know and love and has been the same for the past 18 years, has been released.

WOC however, seems to be a show that will stay current with the Disney films so the soundtrack I expect to change from time to time, so not sure if they will release a fully transitioned CD, or maybe just a CD with the individual tracks on it.

Either way, when you know the right people... You can get any source audio from Disney.

^As for the live broadcast and videos... I think the soundtrack was overlayed with the recording of the show. You can still hear the audience and water. Especially when you play the video through pro-audio speakers, it sounds really scratchy. =/

I believe that Heather replied to a comment on the Disney Parks Blog saying that nothing was set in stone yet but a release was certainly a possibility.

I would also be in line for that, immediately.

^Yes that is true. They literally were changing and editing the show to the very last minute so there really wasn't any time to produce a final soundtrack. It's not set in stone yet, but I would expect them to release it in a few months.

I would be shocked if Disney did not put SOMETHING out.

By the way, we discussed this some in a thread of mine a few weeks ago:

I hope they include the original versions of the bits that were changed by Mr. Iger. Ariel's intro was different, Aladdin and Jasmine's song was different, no Genie but there was a Hercules segment, and a different version of "So Close." As it is now, those songs are just direct copies of their movie versions. I wanna hear Steve Davison's original vision!

    Re: World of Color Soundtrack

I also heard that since the show was basically being tweaked to the very last minute, that putting together a show soundtrack too early wouldn't have worked, as it wouldn't have really been the final version guests are hearing in the show.
Since the show is set, as of now, my guess, it would be coming soon...hopefully.

What would be cool is to do the actual show version as it is now, and then include the original recorded compositions from the early version (the full abbey road recordings)...or at least put in some bonus tracks of orchestrated segments that were alternates or cuts.
If they took the time to do it properly, it could be a very nice show soundtrack.
And they shouldn't run into any rights issues as all the music is Disney. Only issue would be if they didn't have all the legal issues ironed out, particularly paying the orchestra and whatnot, if a cd release were to happen...as everyone has to be compensated appropriately. My guess, and hope, would be that they did...since when it comes to Disney's major nighttime spectacles, those are the entertainment offerings that actually do seem to get an official release.

Thanks DannyLand for sharing the link. It is the best video I have seen of the show. Downloading the soundtrack and putting it on a CD as I speak. Adding the CD to my massive collection of DL music, shows, parades, and sounds...at least until Disney puts out an official version, that is.

I spoke to a Cast Member at DCA, and this wasn't just an ordinary CM, and she said that if the show is popular enough, which obviously it will be, Disney should release the soundtrack in the coming months.

I was a little bummed out they didn't have a Hercules segment with Michael Bolton singing Go the Distance. It would have been absolutely epic hearing that man hit those high notes with his muscular voice and to those amazing water cannons.

The originally planned Hercules segment would have been a great fit after the villains segment.

Yeah, it's beginning to sound more and more like Iger screwed up critical parts of World of Color, just like Eisner micromanaged "Steps in Time" the first show in the Hyperion Theater. I really didn't think that would be that case, when we first heard of Iger messing with WoC, a month or two ago. . . .

Just watch the streamed video from the premiere, they used the master audio for it. You do get a few dim cheers after each section but it's there in all it's orgional glory.
