What Can Be Done To Liven Up The Attraction Queues?

Let's face it, waiting in line can be rather boring...even in some of the more elaborate queues. Fastpass doesn't always prevent one from experiencing some drab moments before during the course of entering a favorite attraction.

So what can be done to plus-up the queues and make them more exciting? A poll will soon be up. In the meantime, I would love to hear some of your ideas.

    1. add tv screens to watch clips while waiting in line like simpsons at universals.
    2. or add mist like they do on soarin
    3. for space mt there is this big empty space, they can have a show there.
    4. if not that a meet n greet while waiting in line

    Extremely good suggestions, Dannyland!

Queue meet n greets would make good sense...especially if one of your favorite characters ended up going on a ride with you.

Disney could and should conjure up some sort of little show to entertain guests in the big open space outside.

TV clips should be offered on tv screens during some of the attractions as well.

Highly venomous snakes specially adapted as ambush predators that only attack static targets forcing all individuals within the queue to either run or dance in place! The added benefit would be increased drink sales and weight loss due to excessive activity.

    This was my first thought.

That's a kewl idea... I've always thought they should have a concession stand up there, especially during the summer. I've been up there in the long line before and have been dying of thirst. I don't normally buy drinks in Disneyland, but I would have if it had been there.

They've already got highly venomous snakes...the managers. Real snakes though...now there's an exciting new idea. If terrified guests translate into more drink sales, the suits will likely adopt your idea immediately, techskip. The weight loss would also keep hefty individuals from sinking the boat rides...or taking up two seats.

There it is. If a good show is offered...people are going to desire delicious drinks to sip on, if not down.

How about simply using the queue areas and getting rid of the FastPass system... My biggest peeve is Space Mountain, standing on the roof of EO for an hour in the sun, then walking down the nice air conditioned hallways to wait the last 10 minutes inside.

Put back the monitors that used to show in Space Mtn also.

This goes the same for Indy, there is like a mile of queue inside, but the keep us all outside without a Fastpass, then you make it all the way up to the "safety video"

Your idea here is worthy of serious consideration, MHatter. If the queues were elaborate and more entertaining, perhaps there would be far less demand for the FastPass system.

Play Lou Bega's Mambo No. 5 at high volume over the sound systems (I despise that song) and have cast members stationed along the way to poke the guests with pointed sticks. A lot more lively, that's for sure, and people would move much faster to get away.

A little bit of Mambo No. 5
A little bit of stick pokin' each guests hide
A little bit of Melificent to make them scream
A little moving quicker through the whole queue thing

(Take it away horn section...full "ear splitting" blast!!!)

I loved when Indiana Jones was interactive - trying to figure out the writings on the wall. Give guests a scavenger hunt when coming through the gates with questions to answer - like the old VMK scavenger hunt - and give a collectors card if you answer correct questions.

Or, just put some more animatronics in the waiting areas - something to look at, at the very least.

Will trade husband for Disneyland and DCA Pins!

Hi there, Jen. The early emphasis on the hiroglific puzzle solving in the queue made Indy far more intriguing and engaging. More animatronics would also serve to reenergize the attraction.
