Plain and simple, it's nearly impossible to change it all at once. In reality, even though they are Disney, there isn't a magic wand they can wave, and it's all changed at once. It's likely to take months, before most of it is changed. And if they really do intend on changing EVERYTHING that starts with "Disney's", it's going to take years, if not, decades to make that big of a change.
Look at when Euro Disneyland changed it's name to Disneyland Paris, there are still remnants of the name "Euro Disneyland" around. "ED" is in some of the railing in the park. That's just one example that I know of.
Point is, it's going to take a while, and that is no big surprise.
Even more surprising is the Disneyland Resort web site still calls is Disney's California Adventure.
And all of the brand new World of Color merchandise has Disney's California Adventure on it.
I can understand the merchandise since they probably had it all made before they decided to change the name, but updating a web site is not rocket science.
Yup. They posted on the blog about how the World of Color merchandise will be some of last with the old name on it. Probably just a way to get people to want to buy it 'cause it's got something special on it.
Honestly, Disney California Adventure sounds grammatically incorrect. It just doesn't sound right when I say it for some reason. :-/
Disney California Adventure sounded funny to me too until I realized we use this structure for almost every other brand I can think of. Ford Focus, Carnival Cruises, Apple iPad, Regal Cinemas, and so forth. This is further reinforced when you remember that the full legal version that has the little trademark symbol next to it is Disney California Adventure Park.
