Disneyland (and more) photos from the 1980's

These first two are actually from the 1970's, my mom and dad at Disneyland:

    Onto the 1980's...

My mom and I at Knott's:

    Knott's:

    It's a Small World:

Back when guests didn't sink the boats:

The castle. Has it changed much?

The old subs, before everything had to have cartoon characters:

Riding the motorboats beneath an old Monorail model:

    Tomorrowland...in the past:

Do they still have the band on the Mark Twain?

Mickey floral. This has been relatively constant over the years I imagine:

    Baloo!

This kind of interaction with characters is much rarer nowadays, with meet & greets being far more controlled:

    Sea World:

    Some more of Knott's:

The Disneyland parking lot! Ah, memories...

    Motorboat cruising again:

This was taken in 1983, I can tell from the banner (cut-off here, but visible in other shots):

Donald has changed a bit since then: [Edit, it's Dewey. I've never seen the nephews in the park so I assumed it was the big D]

My classic, and beloved, Goofy hat:

And what's this in the background? Just one of my favourite, and most missed, attractions of all time - Adventure Thru Inner Space:

    Easter photo-ops:

There was Robin Hood character dining:

    And finally, the money shot.

The Skyway, the People Mover, and the Monorail in action together.

I miss that element of the old Tomorrowland, so many things moving, the land was full of life:

I love the People Mover, if I didn't get my fix in Orlando I might put it ahead of Inner Space.

I think you're right about Dewey. I don't think I've ever seen the nephews in the parks, so I just assumed it was Donald.

    Thanks for the pics!
I used to drive those subs in 1983, back when they emitted nasty fumes.

What about me? What am I, chopped liver?

The photo, incidently, is from Thumper's Easter Egg Hunt. I have vague, but fond memories of it.

I suppose if they did an Easter event nowadays, they'd close Disneyland early and charge extra for a special after hours Easter egg hunt & fireworks...
