Star Tours: An End on an Era

Star Tours closes in a few weeks. It may be long overdue for a replacement, but it will be a bit sad for many of us.

Share any memories/fan art/etc. you may have!

Re: Star Tours: An End on an Era

I was at the height of my Star Wars fandom the first time I rode it. I think I went back five or six times that day. I don't ride it nearly as often now, and I'm looking forward to seeing what the new version will be like, but the original will always be a special memory for me. I'm hoping to ride a few more times between now and then...thanks for the reminder!

I remember it always had to be the first ride when I was in kindergarten and I had all of Captain Rex's lines memorized. lol

I'm going to miss it! I am kind of bummed that I won't be able to ride the original ever again. But as long as they keep the hyperspace-jump in the new version, I will be happy.

Fantastic ride, not too sure when DLP gets replaced but for the time being, I get the luxury of enjoying the origina while the new ride is in operation. I've been phonetically memorizing the Parisian version

Such a fantastic ride, no matter how good the new one is, it'll be sadly missed. I hope they can make enough suitable nods, like mention cancelled flights to Endor etc.

I've enjoyed the trip to Endor ... even though we never quite made it to the little green forested moon.

Brakes .. brakes .. where are the brakes?

    The Mighty microscope ...........

traveling inside an ice comet .....

a run in with a Star Destroyer ....

the cut across the surface of the Death Star ...

    all fun.

It was great for about 10-15 years .... and since the debut of Phantom Menace in 1999 ... it just taken an unbelievably long time to update an attraction who's format .. is perfect for change-overs.

But anyway ... Thank you Pee Wee (Rex) for your bumbling .. but fun antics.

    It was all good fun.

Star Tours absolutely blew me away the first time I rode it. It was definitely worth the long line. (Over three hours, the longest I've ever waited for an attraction.) But I am now really happy to see it being changed. I hardly ride it anymore and it has definitely felt like it needed to be freshened up for a long time.

What I miss is Adventures Through Inner Space. That's the one that's really gone.

Won't Star Tours still be around...possibly for another 25 years? Though with changes.

Great memories of the opening back in the dark ages when I was like 11 years old. I thought the ride, along with all the ST characters & ceremony, was the coolest thing I'd ever seen. That was the first time I'd ever spent the night inside Disneyland. Good times.

Maybe this time, they'll get wise and remove the "REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT" tag. Jeez.

But seriously, it was fun and very cutting edge at the start, and hope the new version will bring all that back. Also, I hope they keep the Mon Calamari in the queue line in their little viewing booths. IT'S A TRAP!

WDI should take the technology from the new Johnny Depp AA in Pirates, and use it to build a Darth Vader AA in the new Star Tours queue and make him a barker for the attraction, ala Mr. Potato Head over at TMM.

    Yes...

    YES...

    YES!

I actually think it would be cool if they updated the queue as Vader's pod room
