The CM told you that outright? I'd think that'd be something they'd keep to themselves & co-workers. When I was in attractions you weren't supposed to give any details about why the ride broke down. We weren't even really supposed to give any estimate as to how long the ride will be down for either.

Haven't herd anything about that though.

^when I was going on the swings the other day, they had to call a guy to fix a swing and they were telling some family what was broken and everything.

They can either tell them now, or the inquiring party can go to DOSH and they will tell them( unless it's an incident that the dept. is currently investigating) after going through the proper channels. All such incidents have to be documented and be kept on file for the state to inspect on demand.

he seemed really nervous when I asked why it was closed for so long, i said "when will it be up" he said "i dont think it will be today" acting really nervous, and I said why and he was like "umm a cord broke" and was nervously laughing and said we just had to wait for maintainance to work their magic

Come on guys.. this is how crazy rumors start. You've gone from a sliver of information to full on injuries...

If someone was hurt - a report would have been filed and the local papers would have picked it up as well. Second... by 'cord' you all are assuming the worst case scenario of a cord holding up a chair. It could be any number of things and the 'rumor' would still be on track.

This sounds like just a maintenance issue... don't make it into something major when its not.

the cord probably was showing wear and tear, and the morning or day or whatever inspectors saw a red flag and had them close the attraction to perform some work.

    Re: Jumpin Jellyfish Cord Broke!!!??

"A cord broke" could mean a few different things.

A ride like this has a bunch of sensors, a lot of them have a flexible cord that runs from the sensor to a junction box where it's hard-wired into the PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) that operates the ride. If one of these breaks, the PLC will figure out (in short order!) that a sensor isn't working, and if there's no backup, it'll E-stop the ride.

Like Flynn said, we as humans usually think the worst, and almost always it's something less.

It'd sure be nice (and reassuring) if DL would share a few more details when a ride breaks down.

I agree with flynnibus. But if the Disney Park blogs say it's taking too much energy and maintenance ... then we should believe what The Great and Powerful Disney tell us.

I'm having a very hard time believing that the cord broke when both of the towers recently went through a thorough refurb. Or was that solely a basic painting and cleaning?
