Besides the 1990's, Do you feel that the 1970's was another Dark Disneyland Decade?

Closures: Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, Carousel of Progress, Pack Mules Through Nature's Wonderland

1974: America Sings, Disneyland & Santa Fe Railroad Renamed Disneyland Railroad

1975: Mission to Mars, America On Parade, The Walt Disney Story Featuring "Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln", Kids in the Kingdom Show, America the Beautiful Adds Scenes of Philadelphia

1976: Lilly Belle Observation Car, New Jungle Cruise Scenes

This was the decade right after Disney had passed three years before, The studio's films being released were not sucessful and not much income was coming into th company, Theme park attendance went down and Walt's brother has just passed as well, the decade was not as revolutionary as it was in the 60's.

How do you feel about this Disneyland Decade, was it truly a dark period for the park?

The only decade to see Two new Disneyland Mountains(compared to the 50's which had one, the 60's which had none, the 80's which had one, and the 90's and 00's which had none)......nope, at least by that measure, not a dark decade

It think it would be hard to argue a 'dark decade' with Space Mountain, Country Bear Jamboree, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Main Street Electrical Parade. Those were all good things.

The shark was jumped back in 1982, with the elimination of the ticket books....although the effects of this didn't really start to become apparent until the 90's.

Agreed. The 90's had their share of misses to be sure, but also some really good things.

The fact that no E-Ticket has been added to "Disneyland" since Indy is somewhat ... ok, VERY disturbing.

Thankfully the 10's look to be much brighter than the 00s, as they are finally getting around to doing things that should have been done a long time ago.

New land with massive E Ticket in DCA, Massively improved entrance for DCA, huge water show for PP, Star Tours 2 all within the first two and a half years...

I'm just concerned that with all the attention at DCA at the moment, they will lose sight of the crumbling Tomorrowland and many other issues at Disneyland itself. Hopefully they don't do a bunch of resting from 2012 to 2020

Besides the 90s???? They were one of the best, entertainment wise. Just look at what the park has now compared to the multiple different style shows we had then.

Besides the 90s gave us a new land, a revamped land (like it or not) and new e-ticket, Fantasmic...etc. Not bad at all. I agree the 2000's have been worse.

Don't forget the major refurbishment Jungle Cruise received in 1978. Several Marc Davis vignettes were added to the attraction, including the gorilla invasion of the explorers' camp with the overturned jeep, and the water buffalo scene with the giant python in the tree near the end.

The attraction was closed in 1977 and reopened for the 1978 summer season. The original jungle gorilla AAs that were replaced with the camp invasion gorillas were repurposed into the Yetis for Matterhorn's refurb.

Also, right before DL's 50th, the park was in need of lots of TLC. I've been going to DL since the early 60's and hadn't seen it that, bad but thank god they found money to spruce DLup!

How do you feel about this Disneyland Decade, was it truly a dark period for the park?

No. Disneyland in the 70's was dimmer than the 60's, definitely, but in no way comparable to the darkness of the 90's. From the mid-90's into the 2000's, much, much more than attraction count was lost.

Not just no...but h-e-double hockey sticks NO! Some truly legendary attractions came into existence in the '70s! I was a kid during the '70s and it seemed like there was something new and amazing every year!
