It's a nice and clean shot that is well composed. Mickey is sharp and perfectly exposed. However, it would be a lot more interesting if the sky behind it were darker, possibly about 20 minutes later.

I'm sure I'm not alone in wishing the fountains actually lowered beneath the water during the day and only broke the surface at show time. That is what they were "supposed" to do but that didn't last long. Reflections would be so much nicer without them breaking it up.

A perfect example of waiting for more interesting light are these two shots I took here in Balboa Park. I was hoping for a nice looking sunset with colorful clouds (we had one the day before) but when I got there, the sky was plain and kind of a light blue gray. The sky looked exactly as it does in your photo. I took a test shot of the pond, it's reflection and the buildings but it was really boring because the light was boring. I ended up waiting there for over an hour, just sitting there waiting, for the sun to completely set and just the last moments of light to give a deep blue glow to the light. I also had to wait for this one HUGE koi to chill out and stop messing up the surface of the water.

This is the first shot I took.

Right after I took the first bracket I ran to the other side and took this one.

Within 2 minutes after that shot, the light was gone.
Yes, I waited for an hour but the photos (and the appetizers from The Prado) afterwards were totally worth it.

Totally agree with the fountains, The only problem with waiting longer was that they have already had set for WOC and they already had have kicked me out of the bridge so they could set the ropes up. I got this shot by asking the cast member if it was ok to go back in to take a few fast shots which he agreed on

I haven't looked for a while, so there was a lot of new stuff to see. The Blue Stairway from June 4, and Jolly Holiday from today are absolutely perfect!
    Thanks for sharing!

Wow, this thread was all the way back on page 10. Ouch!
Sorry I've been so MIA lately. Swamped at work and taking 4 days off for Comic-Con. I have a new tutorial coming shortly featuring one of the amazing Cosplayers from Comic-Con.
Here's a few pretties for the moment.

During Comic-Con I was invited to participate in a Marvel Cosplay Photo Shoot as well as the DC Comics Cosplay Photo Shoot. They were a ton of fun to photograph and had the most amazing costumes and make up work.
    Here's a few from it.

Re: The Disneyland Photo of the Day...

I thought you would like to know what Disneyland currently uses to video spots for the Resort.
Two weeks ago I watched Eddie K film several narrations for the updated DLR video. It is already up on YouTube, etc.

They had a crew of about 8, a white EZup, reflectors, a makeup artist with a holster with 10+ brushes, a script girl, and mounted to a large tripod was a:

Canon 5D DLSR with a bunch of accessories.

Note: They still use Pro Sony Video cameras for larger productions.

How did you get the lighting like this? I mean was it camera settings or editing?

I shot it as a 5 exposure bracket. Once I processed the HDR image, I laid the -2 exposure image on top and layered in the lights so they wouldn't be blown out.

I was just bummed that there was a mess on one of the tables. The people left their boxes and the servers wouldn't clean it up.
