Re: A Guide to Braving the Crowds for World of Color

We're heading for a DL vacation from 12/27-12/29. Yes, we must be crazy to plan a trip with thousands of others during Christmas break....but we have to work with what we have. WoC sounds good. We looooved IllumiNations at Epcot.

I've read every hint I can find about getting a good viewing spot for WoC. Have there been any changes to the wonderful guide at the beginning of this thread? Specifically as it relates to the third show?

We plan on catching the 10:15 show on Tues 12/28. I'm hoping the third show will be after the families with young kids leave. Any more tips for getting a good spot for the third show specifically? Do we need to worry about being able to get FPs? Any thoughts/experiences as to what time they'll be distributing the FPs for the third show on busy days? Have they started doing Preferred Dining packages for the third performance during busy times? Will they sell the picnic lunches in the park?
Since there is a 9:15 show, what time should we line up? And where?
Do we follow the tips from the guide and just change them an hour?

Have there been other changes since July?

    Thanks!

I am constantly updating the guide to keep it relevant to the show's crowds. The last update was only a week ago and it addressed all major changes.

I just want to make sure you know that the 10:15 show is actually the second show. 11:15 is the third show.

I don't think it will be a problem. It's hard to say right now because this is still the show's first year of operation so crowd patterns have not been fully observed.

That is extremely difficult to guess. Some people have posted estimates for these times before but I have found that the times change so often that it really comes down to a guess. Check back closer to your trip and there might be more info on the holiday crowds.

All of these questions are answered in the guide.

Im heading to Disneyland next week and this is going to be my first time seeing WoC. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on which dinning package I should choose!

    Thanks!

Re: A Guide to Braving the Crowds for World of Color

    This is only my opinion.

REMEMBER- You NEED a fastpass to watch the show NO MATTER what! Failure to get a fastpass results in Miserable Viewing location of the show. As a matter of fact, you will dislike the show the first time you see it and will not want to watch it again. I REPEAT NEVER WATCH IT FROM THE BACKSIDE WHERE TOY STORY MANIA IS Ė HORRIBLE AND BORING and you canít see the projection screen.
World of Color are MEANT to be seen from ONE VANTAGE Point and that is in paradise park with the fastpasses.

Fastpass is SOLD OUT for the 9pm (1st showing) at around 11am to 12pm.
Fastpass is SOLD OUT for the 10:15 (2nd showing) at around 2pm to 4pm
Just in case, there is a third showing at 11:15 (3rd showing) Fastpass is SOLD OUT at around 6pm to 8pm or even later.

If you want the 9pm show, you MUST ARRIVE early before 11am.

I don't see why not. I would ask the person in charge at the stations if it's possible to wait on the side until the showtime you want starts distributing. They should be able to accomodate you.

Usuall though, if I want the 10:15 show, I just get the picnic to save time and have a bit of lunch.

Re: A Guide to Braving the Crowds for World of Color

If all else fail and the fastpass has ended for the day

The best thing to do ever is wait for the last show of the day (usually the 2nd showing or 3rd showing).

Once the show has started wait for at least 5 to 10 minute, all the cast members will begin to clear all the rope around paradise park. Once they start doing that, feel free to go stand where ever you feel like without a need for a fastpass.

This only works for the last show of the day. It dpesn't work when there only one show showing that day.

This question may have been asked alreay, but...

Do they keep your party together? Lets say there is 10 people in your group. Will they ensure that all your fast passes will be for the same section and the same show time?

The chance it switches while your group is there is really slim. They also ask the size of your party when you get to the front of the line. They must have some way to deal with it.

Went last night, we did the dining option, first time Ive seen the show my family saw it in July, very cool and the description is pretty much as you describe. One thing however, and I knew this but those who read Ariel's Grotto.

    1. Its not a character dinner, so the Princess' do not come through taking pictures and signing autographs.

    2. I was curious about the bar at AG, whether you could sit at the bar and watch the show...Im guessing not

You have to leave the bar by 830pm if you are just there for food and drinks. If you stay for the show you be charged an additional $10 per person to see the show.

A video of seeing WoC from Ariel's Bar is anyone's curious.

Not a bad view but the audio will be a bit echo-ey.
