I was thinking about Little Squirt this last Sat when I watched the 10:15 World of Color performance.
Little Squirt was to represent the spirit of Walt in form of a small orange fountain throughout the show based on the presentations at BSC and D23 by Steve Davison.
When the videos of the test-shows of WOC surfaced, the character was nowhere to be seen.
When people finally saw the show, it became clear that Little Squirt was not in the show and was said to be cut. When I saw the show and saw the orange fountain at the end of the exit number, I knew that was Little Squirt.
I think I figured out what Steve tried to do based on my observation.
The idea of Little Squirt making his bow at the end of the exit number can lead to many reasons.
I personally thnk that this wasn't a last minute addition.
Since Little Squirt is suppose to be the spirit of Walt, I think this is suppose to remind us that in the World of Disney, Walt's Legacy and Spirit lives on through time and that he will always be there and to continue to inspire others to follow the same path (Pixar) and deliver classics that famlies can love and enjoy.
To make it short: It all started with a man. A man with a dream. And a Mouse (reason for Mickey's apperance being only in the finale.)
