Disneyland Attraction Themed Rooms at Home?

Does anyone else ever do this? Or am I the only weirdo here?

Last year I created the ambience in my living room to reflect the Haunted Mansion. I used candellabras, installed new curtains that very closely resembled those in the hallway just outside the chamber, and I laid carpets in the same colors as that hall. For wall areas, I used furniture tapestry in antique print to recreate the wallpaper in the hallway. I also mounted flameless candles on sconces for effect.

This year I decided to go with the theme in the Tower of Terror hotel lobby, and I'm loving the process! I bought all new lamps with an antique-like amber glass, I added fitted throws to my furniture to create the same look as the furniture in lobby, my sofas are brown already and it was so easy to recreate. I can keep the same curtains. I also added several vases of palm frawns and other various accents. Now I just need to find the music!

I have a Fantasyland themed room in my home. Complete with artwork, vintage photographs of opening day and had my fireplace custom built to the same style as Sleeping Beauty Castle and have a really whimsical chandelier right above the couch. I always get compliments

We don't have an actual attraction themed Disney room, but our guest room is all done in 50's Disneyland stuff from framed actual park maps, posters, art work, Disney lamps, clocks and toys all from the 50's. Lots of Disneyland Hotel items such as soaps, matches, ashtrays, toiletries, etc. from the 50's as well. The rest of the shelves and stuff are filled with pin and ear collections. During Christmas, we put a tree in there that's nothing but Disney ornaments, many from the 50's.

I had friends here who had a Disneyana room. Not themed to one attraction, but jam-packed with Disney stuff, much of it very old. It was amazing. I had no idea there was so much Disneyland collectible stuff made over the years. They moved to Marceline, Missouri (Walt's boyhood town) and opened a shop there called Main Street Emporium. They continue to buy and sell Disneyana and other antiques and collectibles there.

Yes, and no. I might be worse HAHA!

We're in the process of building our home and in the plans we have made room for a future bookcase/secret entrance from the office to the shop in the garage. We would also like the Master Bedroom to look like Captains Quarters. Dark wood panelling up the walls, I-beams on the ceilings, slightly bowed at the base of the wall to recreate the hull of a ship, things like that. I'm really looking forward to seeing the large windows above the bed. We've talked about this for a long time. It's so weird to finally be doing something like this. It's like being a little kid again.

I'm glad I'm not the only one.

If I ever get super super rich I'm going to get a large house and have each room be designed like a different land. Of course my non-Disney loving family will probably be weirded out whenever they visit.

I have made Disneyland houses when playing the sims 2 though.

10/6, I love your plans! Great ideas! When it's ready, I want to see pictures!!

Irish Princess, I didn't know you could do that with SIMS 2? I might have to check it out.

Seagull, well, you have to be inventive when you don't want to ruin actual walls with actual dreaded wallpaper!

@sleepyjeff - send us a picture of your lawn to help demonstrate how "dramatic" & "magical" the new DL Hotel grounds will look!
