RegionsBeyond... Awesome stuff, my friend... Keep it all coming..!
Seeing the Rocket Jets on top of the PeopleMover load platform... (sigh)... Now THAT brings back good memories. With the new TRON movie, it would have been awesome to do an updated version of the SuperSpeed Tunnel that used to play the lightcycle and recognizer film loops from the original TRON on the PeopleMover ride.
I will never understand the boneheaded idea to move the Rocket Jets out front near the Plaza... Grrrr.
I'll have to search through some stuff and see if I have anything interesting to add...
Thank you to everyone for the responses and comments, and awesome to be featured as the "editor's pick" for this week...really, just sharing stuff we've had in books, magazines, guidebooks, or digital format for a while heh
And for this morning, due to a request by niklj, we have a little safari into the wilds of Adventureland!
Trader Sam is, as always, offering his customary special. Interesting to see how fake looking the shrunken heads were/are up close.
Young crack-shots trying their aim at the Safari Shooting Gallery
This is a rather unusual photograph, likely staged, as you can see a couple of Disney workers placing a lion for the Jungle Cruise as a boat filled with passengers heads their way in the background
From "Disneyland World of Flowers", the Swiss Family Robinson treehouse, likely taken in 1956 or thereabouts. Amazing how much the park has changed, given the growth around the tree today.
Hula performers entertain guests at the Tahitian Terrace. My favorite part of this one, actually, is the thoroughly disinterested young boy in the background. Can't win them all, I suppose
And to wrap up, a little slice of Adventureland today, 2010, via my own digital photograph:
Thank you all very much for looking and your continued interest!
Trader Sam looks frightening, but kitschy--kind of like the Jungle Cruise. I kinda like how things used to look a bit more cartoonish than realistic, like in Pirates of the Caribbean.
Adventureland used to have a shooting gallery?! LOL! The people at the Animal Kingdom would not like that, hehehe.
Tahitian Terrace *sigh* I wish I were old enough to remember that, but I was too young when I went there so all those memories are gone. But I guess it was pretty good!
Thanks again RB!
My pleasure! And yes, Sam has gotten a lot of re-sculpts, plus being with mask/without mask, over the years. And yeah, no way a Adventureland shooting gallery with stylized "animals" would fly these days....glad you enjoyed this collection!
