Not necessarily. They can do the show without the dragon. Re-reading it, It'll depend on how long it'll take just to get it back in and assess the damage.

    Re: Murphy just collapsed

Can we please keep this thread for tracking Murphy and not bashing Fantasmic!? Sure its old and a little tired but all of the technology behind it is no older than 2008 or so.

Back on track, its horrible this happened. Hopefully they will be able to repair her over night but looks to be more serious maybe. I remember this being mentioned by Al Lutz last year. He said the dragons movements made the main lift sway and move around so the techs put more weights on the lift to keep it from moving but then the lift couldn't go up or down because there was too much weight on it. So they had to replace to hydraulic lifts which took a while but eventually everything worked out. Looks like they didn't quite solve that issue with enough weights in the back or maybe constant movements and vibrations cracked and broke some of the welds in the back causing murphy to "face plant" per say.
Hopefully they get WDI on this issue right away and the dragon returns soon new and improved.

You have any idea how long it took to put Murphy in? Imagine how long it will take to take it out and put bucky back (If they hadn't scrapped it yet.)

Bucky had a good run, but the reason why to your knowledge it didn't failed was because Bucky, wasn't really an animatronic. It was essentaily a huge puppet. And Bucky has missed performances too.

The dragons are obviously unreliable, they should be given their walking papers.

    Re: Murphy just collapsed

This is an unfortunate situation and shame on the technicians for failing to spot the problem before it happened. It could of seriously injured one of the crew who work on this show. No excuse's this this a bad show.

But I agree with Fantasmanatic, don't use this thread as a forum to bash the Fantasmic Show. Disneyland's Fantasmic has had a lot of problems this year but looking at this picture taken earlier this week. Its not the only Disney night time show to have been having problems this week.

This is a picture of the Spirit of Fire from Tokyo DisneySea's BraviSEAmo in full view during the day with a crew from Maintenance working on it. http://www.deepdisney.com/img2/10082...2010082302.htm

Let's go easy on blaming the techs. They didn't build murphy as much of this work was outsourced to other companies. If something gave way due to a design flaw, that would be one of the engineers who put this thing together...not the techs. When you say "technicians" most of us think of the guys and gals who run the show.

Water screens were kept up to hide Murphy. New Orleans Square had to endure a mist of foul smelling water. Shortly after this picture the Columbia and Mark Twain returned to their docks.

Yes...please leave fantasmic so that all of us new lovers of disneyland can have a chance to experience it....I for one have never seen the show and am looking forward to seeing it in two weeks (with premium view seating)...now I am wondering does the show still go on...just without murphy?? Yes, I am sure it does probably not the same but at least I will finally be able to say that I have seen Fantasmic.
