Part VI: Fantasmic - Intro to Peter Pan
Still with me?
*Looks around furtively...*
Thanks for coming back!![]()
My goal for this section was similar to World of Color in that I tried to cover this show from several different angles, namely down on the ground off to the audience left, standing behind a rail just in front of the French Market, on the bridge over POTC, from a table over in Fowler's Harbor, and finally, one of my new favorite spots...on the new Boat House area that they just opened up next to the Mark Twain Dock (across from the Big Thunder entrance.) In spite of the wonderful views of the river and ample shade from the umbrellas on the tables, this spot was rarely occupied whenever I dropped in over the Summer. At night, if offers great views of the Columbia and Mark Twain as they await their Fantasmic cues, and also offers some great side/backstage views of the show once it begins. It also allows you to high tail it back up the trail to Fantasyland to snag some Fireworks shots as well without getting bogged down in the massive traffic jam following the show.
So here's what I came up with over the 5-6 times I shot the show over the Summer....
Around 2 hours before the show begins, the crowd begins to gather...
The Columbia and Mark Twain wait "backstage" waiting for their cues...
Spots hit the crowd as the show begins...
And Mickey appears on the island...
Fountains appear in the Rivers of America...
Sparks fly from Mickey's fingers...
Mickey is ssssssmokin.....
The mist screens begin, the music changes, and Kaa and his eyes slide onto the island...
...while King Louie and friends cruise by....
Pinocchio and friends drop in...
Monstro emerges on the mist screens and the crowd looks like it will be doused by Monstro until he is interrupted by a canon blast. A familiar looking pirate ship emerges through the mist...

The castles with the fireworks look beautiful!![]()
Those Columbia shots...EPIC!!!
Wow!!!
Thanks RW. Your KC and the Sunshine Band references are very much appreciated as that was one of the key bands of my generation. In fact, KC and Kool and the Gang played during out Grad Nite at Disneyland back in ....1980!
Thanks Pengy! It was great to see how popular your trip report turned out to be, and your shots were amazing. It also sparked quite an uptick in trip reports and photo threads. Way to go!
Thank YOU Disney Lady for sticking with my thread for this long.
Thanks Denluvsdisney.
Thanks Wettham.I'm only about half finished, so I hope people will continue to drop back in from time to time to see what is yet to be posted.
Thanks DisneyRickey.
Thanks SoCalFan.
Thanks Blorgan.
I'll try to get the next batch of Fantamsic shots up by tomorrow pm.![]()

Absolutely LOVE your pics! What an amazing talent and eye you have! I love the pic of the Mark Twain. Who would even think to look at it through the fence hole like that?! I like the WOC pics too. Unfortunately when I went on Aug 15 I had the worst spot ever. I was standing behind a couple who were both about 6ft tall. Me being a mere 5ft3 I missed the entire thing. And the F! photos are the bessssst!![]()
Part VII: Fantasmic - Peter Pan To Murphy
Where were we? Ah yes. A familiar looking ship emerges from the mist:
And a two familiar characters are perched high in the masts....
You can almost read Captain Hook's thoughts: "I turned down that job with Cirque du Soleil for this?"
And off they go...
Wendy, ever with a bad attitude, is about to get tossed overboard ...
Mr Smee agrees that Wendy needs to get tossed...
Peter Pan tosses the pirates...
Back up top, Peter Pan and Captain Hook finally square off...
Wendy is secretly hoping for Captain Hook. Something about that moustache...
But Peter is victorious and does his crowing thing as Captain H is left dangling above the Croc below...
As the Pirate Ship sails back into the mist, rafts emerge carrying three popular Disney Princesses:
All of this romantical nonsense is getting on the evil queen's nerves. She's about to drop Mickey like a bad habit...
On deck: Part VIII - Fantasmic: Evil Queen, Murphy, and Conclusion...

Part VIII: Fantasmic - Evil Queen to Murphy
Back on the island, the evil queen decides that Mickey is going down. So after a bit of hocus pocus...
...She turns herself into the old hag....
after which Flotsam and Jetsam turn up looking for a snack....
Deciding "old hag" doesn't quite cut it, she goes with Mailificent instead...
The music continues to build, Chernabog shows up in the mist screens, the Queen's laughter continues, and suddenly all goes dark. A dark form emerges from the mist...
As the lights slowly come up, Murphy, on good nights, makes her appearance:
After a dismissive glance at Mickey, Murphy turns back to the onlooking crowd, and...
It's showtime!
But Mickey raises a plastic sword that he swiped from an ODV cart and nails Murphy mid-gloat...
...and Murphy goes down.
Scroll down for Part IX

Thanks for your comment, xoDisneyLove. Sorry to hear that you weren't able to see at WOC. I'm 6 foot 3, but I usually try to keep an eye out for folks behind me. At Disneyland's 55th, I arrived early to stake out a spot and ended up with a decent view. A lady arrived a bit later who was probably about your height and I gladly agreed to allow her to stand in front of me as I could easily see over her head. Hopefully next time, folks might look out for you and you'll be able to enjoy the show.
And my apologies to anyone still following this thread for the amount of time it's taking to get these shots edited and uploaded. I was hoping to be finishing up by now, but I still have more than a few fireworks shots coming up and dozens of shots from around the parks over the past few months. Please feel free to keep checking back. I will always update the first page with a link and a date as this could take awhile. In the mean time, thanks for the views and comments.

Before I post the last section of Fantasmic, I just wanted to thank those of you who are still coming back to this thread after five weeks. I'm getting down to the bottom of the thread, and after Fantasmic will be Fireworks followed by quite a few shots largely from over the Summer, but a few taken just a couple weeks ago. So....thanks for coming back!
Part IX:
After Murphy goes down, sparks are seen in the distance...
And the Mark Twain comes into view...
On nights when there is no Mark Twain available, the River in front of TWI lights up with more pyro and some different fountain lights...
And finally, Mickey emerges on top of TSI as lasers and more pyro light up the sky...
On Deck...Fireworks.
