Loved the mid-week off season crowds today

We spent today at Disneyland and DCA and the lack of crowds (and the cool weather) were both fantastic! If you plan on going in the next few days you are in for a treat!

Gotta love this time of year at Disneyland, still I can't wait for Halloweentime!

I've got a group from out of town coming in this week. I'm not happy about the reduced hours, but I'm going to try to cram in as much of both parks as I can.

the weather was beautiful today here in orange. if you had told me it would be like this two days ago, while i was sweating off half my body weight at international street fair, i'd have laughed at you!

but the cool, overcast morning, moving to a warm, clear afternoon just in time to cool off again was perfect!

I was there today as well. I got 5 consecutive rides on Splash Mountain without even having to leave the log.

True, but ten hours on a slow day are like 16 hours on a busy day. The only real negative was the lack of fireworks.

Yea, all but one have not seen WoC so we are hitting that up. I wanted them to see fireworks or F! too. I kinda have to make due. They turned to me for advice and to go with them as the person with the most Disneyland experience. I'll probably just end up getting FPs while they visit attractions.

The offseason when the park closes at 8 is my favorite time to go.

Look at it this way. I work in Irvine and sometimes after work I like going to the park. One time I got there around 4 and they were closing at 8.

In that short time span I still was able to do 8 rides and also have dinner!

There's just something about Disneyland during these slow offseason times that is really wonderful. And it isn't just the rides or shows. It's hard to describe, but the park just feels a lot more intimate for some reason. It really is my favorite time to go.

I love the weather, and I can't wait to make a trip over with the park less crowded, but I'm always a bit verklempt the first time 9:30 rolls around on a weekday and I don't hear the fireworks.

I went during this time a few years back, and I was amazed at how dead the park was. It was great! Of course, this is all caused by a lack of other people being there and having fun, which is kind of sad, and it wouldn't be good for business if the place were always like that, but while it lasts, it sure keeps wait times short and walkways clear for the few who are there to enjoy it. I think I'll be there sometime in the next few days, so it'll be interesting to see how quiet it is this year.

And if you want to go to a really empty park, go to Knott's mid-week in the off-season!

My very first trip to disneyland was with my family (3 kids 4,6 and 8) and we went the 2nd week of December. It was so slow and really was the best trip I ever had there. It was slow and all decorated for Christmas, the CMs were still nice because they hadn't gotten the Christmas Crankies from dealing with too many people trying to have the 'perfect' holiday. off season is the best by far.

Every time I looked at CA Screamin' throughout the day, there was a very short line!

Re: Loved the mid-week off season crowds today

The crowds were excellent yesterday. A lot of 5 minute wait times. We arrived just after 4pm.

Also, I got to meet George Kalogridis right when I walked into the park. He was standing outside of the Gallery watching the flag ceremony. He was a very nice, welcoming man who was more than willing to talk to a random park guest.

    And the weather was perfection...

EDIT: And I didn't have one of my pins to give to him. I'm a failure. That would've been awesome.
