Kind of a silly question, they're all a part of the Disney legacy.
Bottom line is that kids still ride and enjoy Gadget's Go Coaster.

There have been a number of great attraction concepts that have been shelved because someone decided that the movie/tv tie-in didn't perform as well as they wanted. The point is that an attraction can be a success or failure in spite of the success or failure of the media inspiration. There are successful attractions that have NO connection to any movie or tv show whatsoever.

It's the staying power of the ride not just the franchise that will keep people coming back. I usually see a pretty good size line for the ride when we are in the area.

Having said that, there's no doubt that Toon Town needs an all over redo. They got something right but there is plenty of room for improvement. Keep Mickey's house, keep Roger Rabbit, keep the whimsical toon feel but to me there are too many houses for the other characters and not enough things for the whole family to do together.

I'd suggest that line is more a capacity issue than a result of popularity.

Very possible, I'm not familiar with the capacity for this ride.

Runs and loads one cart at a time with limited side my side seating. It's capacity sucks.

Re: Why do the Rescue Rangers still have an attration at Disneyland?

Characters in the Disney pantheon live on and will continue to live on as long as we have an open mind. Where would Scrooge McDuck be if we left him in in the comic books?

Clarice may have been created during Walt's time but Gadget racks up more screentime and IS a strong female character on top of that.

Kids don't need to know who Gadget is. If they enjoy the ride and want to learn more, they can certainly do that. That's what makes Disney parks (ugh, i hate saying that) so rich is because there's a vast and layered history. You can't judge everything from its cover.

I just wish the executives didn't decide that because it's a "toon town" that the coasters should be dumbed down for kids. The same height requirement for Gadget's is required for the Matterhorn. So why is Gadget's Go Coaster so short? Treat kids... i mean people with respect and give them what they deserve. They deserve an extended length coaster.

You might find this read interesting, Song of the South was taken off the shelf by Disney, NAACP voiced concern when it was made, but not since then:

    Q. Has Song of the South really been banned? A. No. This is one of the long-standing myths surrounding this movie. It has been said that the NAACP banned the movie, but that simply isn't true. The NAACP did show their disapproval of the portrayal of African-Americans in the film even when Song of the South was being produced, however there hasn't been any official "banning" going on anywhere. As far as we know, Disney has taken it upon themselves to withhold this movie from the public. Supposedly, the NAACP has no current position on the film.

    Q. Why can't I find this movie anywhere?
    A. You cannot find this movie anywhere because after Song of the South's last theatrical release in 1986, Disney decided not to re-release it again, most likely because of the movie's "racial" stigma (although there are no documented complaints stemming from the movie's 1986 theatrical release.) The movie has been released on video and laserdisc in various foreign countries, but never in the United States. As of December 2001, Song of the South was withdrawn worldwide.
    Trips coming up:

    May 22-26th
    July 13th-18th
    November 19th-25th

What they could do is take out Goofy's house and Donald's boat and extend the coaster. Maybe even a part indoor and outdoor coaster, it would be longer, better themed and bring more people to the corner of the park. Use the treehouse as part of the queue and add a smaller play area near the coaster.

That ride may have awful theming, but there is normally a decent amount of people waiting to get on it whenever I have been over there. I can't really say the same about the treehouse though..
