Wasn't it on the 10th anniversary of the park (Julie)?

You bought this off of ebay?

I would report the person selling it...and notify the Disney Legal Team.

They began using it the same year Disneyland's Tour Guide program began, 1959. And the D-Pin is a valued and valuable part of a Tour Guide's costume. You earn it when you successfully give your first VIP Tour. Cast Members do not keep them when they leave the company, and can be fired and/or prosecuted for selling them.

Quite, the item is stolen property, and should be reported.

All he did was purchase a piece of Disney memorabilia off of a legitimate website.
How could he have possibly known it was stolen?
Hes in the clear in my mind.

I'm curious what the Disney Legal Team responds to you with...I imagine they have bigger fish to fry than someone buying a pin.

    Keep us posted.

He couldn't have know, but when people buy a stole phone, TV, etc...they don't know. It doesn't make it not stole. Point being, I would still report the person who sold the item (they might not have know either).

Ignorance, is not an excuse of the law.

This isn't about the OP, it's about the person selling it... If the OP want's to do the right thing, that's up to them. Though the seller should still be reported.

You said that the Disney Legal Team was being notified, I'm just curious what they tell you.

Also, there are currently host and hostess pins on eBay that look just like this one.

First and foremost, it's not my place to report responses to legal matters. Though Disney does take them very seriously.

Secondly, ebay has already been notified of the current listing of the two items in question. It'll be up to Disney to do the rest.

Why did you make the assumption he bought it off eBay? How do you know he didn't buy if from a seller who received it legitimately? How do you know it's not a reproduction?

Listen...there are TONS of costuming pieces on Ebay right now. Just in the Disneyland Railroad department there are several conductor hats and hat badges. If it concerns you so much, I might suggest you do some searching and report the pieces to Disney.

If Disney doesn't care enough to police Ebay, I don't know why you do.

If its not your place to report legal matters, then why did you say:
