Would you exchange the current HM and POTC for a "new" HM and POTC?

People seemed to have a lot of fun with my other "would you?" thread from a couple of weeks ago. Here's another...

If given the option to exchange the current Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean for rides with completely new sets, AAs and special effects, would you do it?

For the sake of this question:

• The scenes themselves are not changed. However, everything is rebuilt from the ground up with the best technology available today (AAs move more fluidly and look more realistic, state-of-the-art projection technology, better sets, real fire in POTC, better sound effects, etc)
• The music/songs are not changed.
• The Omnimovers (HM) would be relatively the same, just more ornate and with better sound. They would follow the exact same path that they do now.
• The POTC boats would be relatively the same, just better themed. They would also follow the exact same path that they do now.
• There is no downtime, it happens overnight!

1960's vs. 2010's...nostalgia vs. "wow" factor...you decide!

Most of what you describe can be done without rebuilding from scratch: new AAs, better sound, newer projections, even rethemed vehicles.

I personally think Haunted Mansion is overdo for a complete Animatronic overhaul. They should certainly continue to use the exteriors of the existing characters so they don't have a different appearance. Tokyo's Haunted Mansion has a lot more fluid AA's than ours. The effects also need to be enhanced, not changed like the attic.

Pirates I don't think needs anything major just yet except for a redo to remove the movie elements.

haunted mansion could use a tech update its one of those rides that can get even better by adding effects that look real

Eliminate the movie tie-ins in PotC, and I would be all for a refreshing of the ride with new AA's and effects. That being said, it is a testament to the ride that a lot of the effects that the ride opened with can continue to be used. The scene with the skeleton captaining the ship during the lightning storm and the subtle nature of the treasure room are some examples of how the ride was perfect until it was ruined by modern-day references to Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush and Tentacle-Face.

As for the Haunted Mansion, I would love to see the addition of new AA's, and would welcome changes to the Omnimover system that can continue to limit sightlines, especially when you can see the ceiling in the graveyard scene. Of course, I can also not lean forward and ruin the illusion myself!

The only things I would change in PotC is take out Jack Sparrow from the Mayor-in-the-Well scene and give back the original dialouge to the pirate. Change the cannon battle scene to the original. Keep treasure Sparrow, Davy Jones waterfall, and the pooped pirate thing unless you want the ride to be controversial, ending Davy Jones spiel, and give PotC better effects.
